Any 50 year old Versa owner/ drivers

I'm 51 and the wife (who drives the Versa daily) is 47. So far, we are very impressed with the car. We will have it 3 weeks tomorrow.

I just bought an 08 SL for my 64th birthday. Let my 19 year-old Ford Festiva go when the State of Texas offered me $3000 for it.

Yah -- Tex Commsn on Environmental Quality wanted to get 10+ year old cars off the road. Since I don't make over 31,200 / yr (semi-retired) they gave me $3000 to buy a new car (or not more than 3 yr old used). They actually gave me a voucher to give to the dealer. Other "rules" as to how long you owned the car kept someone from buying a junker & getting $3k off a new car.

Was reading some of the "car lists" & thought it would be fun to remember mine. I've often owned 2 (or 3) at a time, hence the weird list. I drove one to work & ran gymkanas & autocrosses with the other.

Wanted to wait but had to replace either the car or the PS and water pumps to keep the old one on the road until the legislation passed.

Not worth it. So I'm happily driving a non-gas-guzzling but not getting the mileage promised rattle free V. And I'm OK with it.

I feel lucky -- I've had to put $$ into it last 3 yrs just to pass inspection. My suspension was shot -- couldn't drive over 57 which kept me off the freeways. Was cutting it close -- inspection was due by Jan 31 -- got the voucher Jan 5 & the car on 19th
