no IAT, the MAF serves the purpose of the IAT sensor. They are the same thing.

hmmm, I dunno, I know my cavalier had an IAT sensor on it, but it did not have any type of MAF sensor and the IAT was the only one that told the ECU anything about airflow. But with the KA (and SR) the Computer reads the airflow information by the MAF. The way I understand the maf to work is that there is a little element in there that gets heated to some temperature and then the rate at which it is cooled and how cool it stays determines the amount of air that is coming into the motor.

But what do I know, I am just a geography major :(

I stand corrected! I guess I don't know anything :(

but I dunno where it is, gotta be somewhere in the intake tract though. It will be on one of the pieces that you remove when you install the AEM intake.

Hey 240_keyy, you're a geography major? I could use your help with something...have you covered Central America yet in your studies?

Don't worry, I'm not hijacking your thread, 240SXedup! The IAT is a small sensor that is inside the lower airbox. Since you have a '95 it should be held in with two small bolts. Once you get the MAFS disconnected and the top of the airbox removed, you should be able to see it.

In a nutshell, I need to know September average annual climate ranges, typical flora and topography for the following areas of Mexico: Chihuahua, Coahuila, Tamulipas, Nueva Leon, Veracruz, Tabasco and Yucatan/Quintana Roo provinces.

Ha ha ha, you know, nothing complicated or anything! :) Can you help a brutha out?

Yes, I know it's bizarre...I need this info for my book, I actually tried to get in touch with my old geography prof. but he ran up to the Peace River district in Canada to retire and evidently no longer has the trappings of civilization. Like, you know, phones and running water and such.

240_Keyy, I can make do with just some general geographic details about any of these provinces....anything would be awesome! I have been combing the net for info but a lot of it is too specialized to be of any use. If you know a good website for me, I will be in yo debt.

I need a basic description like "region is primarily flat and tropical, characterized by limestone soils, underlying ridge of karst, rainy season between Aug. to Oct., typical crops include maize, marijuana, etc."

I'll even send you a package of genuine Scrapple for your troubles.

Yah. Do you see a wire harness plug towards the front (towards the headlights)? Not the one connected to the MAF, there should be another plug right near the box. That's the IAT. Just follow the wires till you hit a plug near the lower airbox.

Hey Meantime, if you need info from a book, I can give you the name and number of our resident Central American Specialist here at TAMU. He is a really cool guy and I am sure he could give you that stuff...

other then that, I might be able to find some stuff and break down the details for ya...

You won't see the skinny part of the IAT (on the left), it's buried within the lower intake. What you will see from the outside should be a big plug that connects to the outer portion of the IAT (the squarish part on the right). It will lead you right to it. It's gotta be there!

240_keyy, that would be fine. I've actually been looking for a good text on Central American geography but surprisingly I haven't found much out there. Maybe I've just been searching in the wrong place, eh? Would your prof. be okay with me pestering him for info...

"Yes, hello, uh, 240_keyy sent me..."

LOL, I am sure that if you called/e-mailed him and told him that you were a friend of Keith Lempa's and you wanted to know some information about his area of specialty for a book you are writing he would give you the hook-up. His name is Dr. Rob Dull and you can find his e-mail by looking here: http://geog.tamu.edu/newpage/people.html and clicking on his name... (don't wanna actually just give it to you, lest a spammer might pick it up ;))

FLASHBACK: OHHH YEAH!!! I just remembered, I actually have a textbook from my Geog of Latin America that may have some useful information in it. Duh :D

Well... I think the installation calls for the IAT for installation. The only thing is. I have no ****in idea where it is. I cant find the plug you are talking about.

Okay, back up. Take the plug harness for the MAFS (the one I assume you've disconnected already. It's on top of the intake, right before the filter box.) Now there should be a wiring branch off of that MAFS harness that leads a short distance to the airbox or thereabouts. That plug should be the IAT. Try tracing the branch off the MAFS harness, that may make it easier.

240_keyy, thanks for the link bro. Now I will commence flooding your professor with prank calls and spam emails. My plan worked to perfection! Buahahaha!

BTW, would you like original flavor Scrapple or the "extra lard" variety?

Haha ok thanks. I got it all installed. The problem I had is that that IAT is not the one on the 95. It must be like a 97-98 one. But I got it on and it sounds/looks good :)

Yeah, he would probably expect that from me :D

But seriously man, he is a pretty cool guy and is very knowledgeable about latin america. Just tell him I sent ya and that you will give him a plug in yer book or something. ;)

And what is this scrapple madness of which you speak? Does it come in pecan flavor? Because I like pecans :D
