I'm glad you guys are diggin the angel eyes! I have perfected the install over the last month. If you are interested in them, email me. About the front rims...I had ripped off two yokohamas because of a bang up allignment. And yes the wheels are Enkei 17s. Any other mods you guys can recommend now? I want to get into the engine assembly more with some cams etc. Maybe direct port? TTYL

Willis:

Welcome to NICO!! Also, why don't you post a "How To" for those angel eyes.

I promise the effort of writing it up will not be in vain as our J30 members are sure to eagerly read it.

I'de love to post a "how to" but for such a custom install I've started selling the rings and installation for a pretty cheap fee to J30 owners. I dont really want to advertise on here because it's not in the spirit of NICO...But if you are interested in just a set of rings or the full install package...just let me know via email. The process is FULLY guaranteed including replacement of damaged headlight assembly and guarantee of ring life. I would be happy to answer any other questions because I'll be asking a ton myself. Thanks again!

Brian, maybe if we get a few of us to buy the angel eyes you could cut a discount to the NICO members? Im really interested and if you have a gurantee on the life of the ring life and assembly I think it could be worth it...i really dont want to break a 250 light fixture because of something stupid I did.

OK...heres the deal J Buddies:

PACKAGE: 175.00 (NICO users 165.00)

Includes making of lights and rings, install of rings into projection housing, and 1-way shipping back to owner. Headlight install is guaranteed.

RINGS only: 90.00 (NICO users 85.00)

Includes making of rings and covers shipping costs. No install instructions are sent because it is at own risk and I cannot be held responsible for suggesting something that may go wrong. Please notice that in the Package...the install is guaranteed.

Rings are made of intense heat resistant material. The core is acrylic with Epoxynol coating. Most ebay rings are hollow! Very durable and light reffraction friendly. LEDs are used in pollished holes in the rings. Most ebay rings are using cheap 2-3 dollar LED bulbs to make more money. The bulbs I order run around 45-50 dollars total for the set and put out a blinding amount of light.

NICO members may get a 10 dollar discount on the package and 5 dollars on the rings. Let me know what you want to do and I can get started soon. I do have a list going right now so I am constantly busy. Thanks for your interest!

PS: I may be stopping the selling of just the rings because I have gotten numerous emails about users breaking their headlight assembly for various reasons. I would feel more comfortable knowing that all the J's around can get a guaranteed install instead of hitting up nissan or a junk yard for replacment parts on your own nickel because they cracked their lens.

For ordering contact [email protected]

Please refrain from questions via email because I have been real busy with orders and installs for other cars. Any questions may be posted in this string.

Thanks again all!

Brian

oops, then disregard the email i jsut sent you:

As far as the guarantee, does that cover if/when the headlights get foggy as a result of the installation? what about LED failure? also, in the full package, how are the angel eyes triggered? do you simply have them wired in parallel with the parking lamps, or is a separate switch included etc.? im also curious about the LED output, to compare the ones your using to ones i had thought of using, what is the rated light output? again, thanks for all the info...

i would definitley say the J30 takes on a much more bad-a$$ stance with these lights at night:demon-eyes sound much more fitting to me....

I drive alot at night with just the angels on. They are pretty bright and I keep passing the cops no problem. They probably don't say much because they look too cool...but don't do as I do!! I know most of them anyways! My list is getting bigger so if you want yours coon please let me know otherwise there may be a back order you will have to deal with. I'm still on a three day wait. Not to bad.

Also...if you plan on posting pictures of my car (such as above) ...please give credit or just put my user name or email. Thanks guys!

Like eswift said, does the gurantee cover fogging of the lights and also what happens if the lights burn out? I know you most likely wont break the headlights because you have experience and know what youre doing but what happens if you do? Is this gurantee just your word or what?

The J30 head ***. will not fog because of they are not sealed. They have two vents on the bottom and the newer models have side breathers.

LEDs do not burn out. They do not burn with a fillament like normal light bulbs, they are electrodes in a way and the arc is what shines by the electrical reaction. This is why most of the new cadilacs and oldsmobiles are using LEDs for rear lighting...because they don't burn out and they are provide a quicker reaction to current vice the fadeing in and out of a regular bulb.

In the unlikely event that your headlight ***. is damaged when I seperate the housing, I will replace it under my own word. I have done this numerous times and all I have is my reputation to put in for trust.

Thanks again.Brian

Brain, I have a 93 J and my headlights have fogged up twice in the past few days but it went away shortly after rain stopped. So they can fog...but it will always go away shortly after rain. By they way, i fixed mine so Im not driving around ghetto with fogged lights.

Yes the decals are permanent. I keep it garaged...they've been on a while and are still bright as the day i put them on.

The fog is most likely because of where you are from also. I see you that you live further down south florida than I do. Killer humidity and pressure down there will keep a nice little fog in your headlights or even a video camera. I used to live in miami and clearwater...everytime we went to film outside we had problems because of our cam fogging up. So there really is no cure for the itch there.

Nice ride diamond j. I've had my eye on your page for a while. Keep in touch.

LEDs have a finite lifetime on the order of 100,000 hours. This lifetime is very dependent on the environment (operating temperature) and the voltage they are run at. In this application, where the LEDs will be very hot in the light housing and will most likely be run at or near their voltage limit (for brightness sake) the lifetime could indeed be cut drastically. also disasterous would be a voltage spike, which is the leading cause of LED failure. if your resistor is chosen for 12V to run the LED at max illumination, a spike up to 14V could fail the LED in a very short amount of time.

just mentioning this because your explination seems to imply that you failed to account for this possibility.

i am also interested in this epoxynol coating. i am quite familiar with polymers and yet have never heard of it. is this simply a high temp adhesive used to mount the rings?

You are correct reguarding the current used for the LEDs. I use a resistance that provides enough buffer in case of a spike. You can run an LED around 11000 MCD but it's pretty risky plus it burns a nice cool blue instead of a pure white...with a toned down current (around 8000-10000 MCD) you get the max amount of pure white light that you will get from an 5mm LED.

About the epoxynol, it's spray I use pretty much made of a high temp epoxy like coating. It's almost like a clear coat but dries incredibly fast, smells really bad, and won't burn with a lighter once hard. Pretty cool stuff.

Thanks for the full descript on the LED stuff up top. I keep answering the same questions over and over through a flood of emails...I end up leaving stuff out or giving the short spill. Apprexiate it.

thanks for the epoxynol info

you can barely see parking lights on during the day in direct sunight, so i would assume that they would be barely noticeable at noon, and increasing in visibility towards dusk as the sun gets lower and there are shadows in the headlight housings. feel free to correct me if i am incorrect, brian.

Wish I saw your post before I tried it. Those lights aren't cheap. The deal wanted $437 for just the drivers side! But I just ordered them from infiniticarpartsusa.com for around $225, a lot cheaper that the dealer, but still its not pocket change to a college student. :D

You are Eswift...the best times to show off eyes is when the sun is going down and obviously dead night. :)

I can get you guys a day pic but in the FL sun it may be a lost cause. Its like shining a flashlight at the sun...no reason. :) Talk to you later
