And the function of "angel eyes" is.....?

To look like a BMW?

Can anyone explain what these things actually do to enhance a car's performance, or are they just cosmetic?

Folks, I'd like to apologize for my good friend Brian here.

He is a "form follows function" man, a man of simple tastes, a man who wishes all things automotive to be free from unnatural or unneccessary "adornment", so to speak.

He is, in a word, the "Anti-Bling".

They're just for looks, big dawg. :D

antibling meet antipop.i think they are very tastefully done.one thing i like about j30 is they are not everywhere, around every corner.so why not personalize.yet very expensive to do you end up with a statement about yourself.i sure i will never see one with all my add ons, mayhem is as close as anybody gets,my hats off to him.we help each other.we all have are opinions, and they are takin for what they are.in the end they can conclude if its worth it or not.we are here to help not discourage simple mods as this.because of no aftermarket stuff for the car we can score high in the import scene.every thing on my car is custom made.but im willing to share askmayhem.dont know why im writing all this.as much as i hate ford,im sure i coulod take a flimsy mustang and make it completally as sound as a q in the body and rattles department.youd **** when im done w/it.

The link is dead Black240. Maybe it will be up in a while. No one is saying it's terribly hard to make eyes. It just takes forever to make the lights and rings and then take apart the assembly and then install and then and then and then...well over 8 hours of work. You'll spend around 50 in parts and the rest of the day and night making them. But I appreciate the link...I would love to see another CHEAP way of making them. Were you infering that I'm being sneaky?? Thanks again.

Brian, I dont think he is at all inferring you are sneaky:angel:

I think we all understand the amount of time+ skill it would take to make a good, clean install and I for one appreciate the effort you have put into modifying J's.If I was a J30 owner, I would strongly consider getting a set from you, and I am glad we have you on our board now.

Fred...:)

works just fine for me...but in anycase,

I did not mean that you were trying ot be sneaky at all.. I was just passing along some information that I had to make those lights at a minimal cost. I have been on these boards for a while and I know people here like to save money and work on their cars themselves. It is great to have you on here.. Dont get me wrong... I am just giving people an alternative to the expensive "ready made" angel eyes. I'm sure people will still buy from you just because of the lazy factor... keep up the good work!

Yep, sure did. Its not easy to seperate the housing and the lense. If ya do a search, you'll plenty of sites on how to make the angel eyes, installing them, on the other hand, is the most difficult part. If any of you are serious on doing the angel eye mod, let brian do it. Its worth the money what he is asking for.

what method did you use to try and take apart the headlight housing ride? I was thinking a heatgun would work best and then just pull apart slowly.

Used a heat gun, but put a little too much muscle into it. Guess that membership at the gym is to blame.

Thanks guys for the words. Had a bad day sorry to snap back. :) The guys that re did my alignment really screwed me over again so I've been jerking around all over town today. LOL Anyways...ya a heat gun heats to much to fast and will crack your glass and melt your housing. An oven works nicely because it's slowly melts the glue. Peace

Car: should be obvious enough

hair dryer would probably work too, as i have had success with other cars using this method on tail lamps.

much more labor intensive and a pain, though.

im sure you are right about the oven being the best method.

When you guys mentions using an oven do you mean like the one in my house or a different type of oven used for other stuff like this? Wouldnt a heat gun work if i just went across the top at a far enough distance away and pulled apart slowly?

But the assembly wouldn't be uniform in temperature, and the glue cooling on the already separated edge would be a real mess to deal with.

so i should just stick it in the oven in my kitchen? nothing will melt or crack right?

My main problem with sending them to get to get put in is that I am going to drive around without headlights in my car. Obviously no night driving, but will the police bother me about driving around with 2 hollowed cavities in the front of my car?? I live in New Jersey, so who knows. Also, what turnaround time are we talking?? Days, weeks??

for the guy asking about turnaround time...I keep the assembly for a max of days...so add shipping times to that and you have your turnaround. the cops shouldn't bother you...maybe tape some plastic over the wells and write "lights pending" or something smart *** like on it. :)

My last question is what forms of payment do you accept? Where to ship the lights? If you get them by Tuesday, and I include a UPS label for you to overnight them back to me, do you think you can have them back to me by Friday??

Tando, please email me and I will provide a shipping address. I accept payment via paypal, money order, cashiers check, or cash (at your own risk). If you ship them I will keep them a max of three days. You may send a prepaid shipping label with the lights for return but please make sure the payment code is accurate because incorrect an shipping label will delay return. Looking forward to your business. Email me as soon as possible.Brian [email protected]
