Thanks for the sweet compliments, that goes double for everyone else as well.

A 38mm WG will not work. It has the 44mm v-band flange on the manifold, and it is necessary to keep boost in check for anything below 20lbs.

I do have a few manifolds from testing that have 38mm flanges on them. If you are looking to run higher boost and don't mind a used manifold, we will most likely be selling these ones, as-is. I will post up when we are ready to let them go, please don't pm or email me about them.

I have had the -8 line on my car for over 6 months now. I have put a kagillion dyno pulls on it and about 200 street miles. I have not had any problems so far.

I can get almost anything you need in a standard bushing turbo for around the same price.

Its already worked out yo!

This manifold/WG combo will hold 6lbs of boost to redline!

With the current setup the backpressure in the manifold collector is about 11-12lbs when the boost is about 17lbs between 6200 and 6800 rpms.

You are well over your question quota! Stop it!!!!!! hahaha

This kit is very cleverly put together. They didn't include anything that they could be undersold on from ebay or anything. A lot of the time Ebay sells things for less then a shop can get them from their distributor/vendor. This kit is pretty much everything you want/nothing you dont. Good job AMS.I do have 1 question. It says that the downpipe can bolt to the stock Cat. Does that mean that the outlet flange is only 2.25 inches?

well interesting design on the manifold and thank you for going through the process of testing and getting rid of the boost creep issues. of course i will have to ask if this setup will clear the stock a/c line? also any issues with the upgraded z32 master cylinder in terms of clearance? also, i assume the DP will clear the steering rack? and last but not least, do you prefer to run the -8 AN or the -10 AN?

The time invested in this manifold was UNREAL...

We worked on turbo placement first to determine the best spot to bottom mount the turbo. Keeping in mind down pipe routing, intake tube routing, oil feed and return line routing, AC clearance, PS clearance, BMC clearance, steering rack clearance, etc... This was tough as you all know, that side of the motor is tight.

Second we worked on connecting points 1 2 3 and 4 to point T. Starting with a waterjet cut SS flange, we made a form to press out transition pieces to go from square exaust port to the round tubing we use for the runners. These transition pieces provide smooth flow of exhaust gasses into the runners. These pieces are made of schedule 10 forged SS tube. All runners are made from the same schedule 10 forged SS tubing and all cuts are made on tangent to keep exhaust flowing well. The runners are connected to our merge collector. Tubing is CNC cut to mate up perfectly for the four corners of the collector which is then TIG welded inside and out. The side of the collector is machined for the WG tube prior to being welded to the runners. Larger diameter tubing is used for the WG feed to insure the ability to run low boost all the way to redline.

Our initial manifolds would hold boost in the lower RPMs but above 5000 rpms we would see a rise in boost pressure. These manifold were using the Tial 38mm WG. We changed the feed to the WG several times trying to decrease the entry angle and even tried larger diameter tubing with no signifigant decreases in boost creep.

We decided to tap the manifold in several spots to measure back pressure. We checked pressure in a runner, the collector, the feed to the WG and in the turbine housing. We didnt see what we expected and found the pressure in the manifold to be about equal to boost. We tried a smaller AR ratio on the turbine housing expecting pressure to rise in the collector and causing more exhaust to exit through the WG and lowering boost.. We actually found the opposit. Boost went up 2 psi and collector pressure dropped several psi.

Finally we decided to try a larger WG and took one of the manifolds that already had the larger WG feed tubing and chopped off the 38mm WG flange and replaced it with the Tial 44mm v-band flange. With the 44mm WG, boost creep was GONE!!!!

It seems that with our super efficient collector design, exhaust gas is more prone to go through the turbo than making it out the WG. This is also backed up by the spool up stats that Chris posted up earlier.

I am super proud of this turbo kit. It spools like no other, holds boost to redline (7500+ rpms), fits exceptionally well, is high quality and is IMO a work of art.

Everyone involved in the design, fabrication, and marketing of this turbo kit put so much time and effort into bringing the absolute best turbo kit we could to the market for the fairest price we could. It ended up being a bit more expensive than we had hoped. With the price of SS going through the roof and turbo pricing at an all time high, it ended up being higher than we wanted.

We are doing everything we can to try to find ways to reduce the cost in dollars and fabrication time for the turbo kit so that we can pass the savings on to you.

As production goes forward, we will do everything we can to make the kit as affordable as possible.

This kit is simply gorgeous.

Hell, I pitch a tent just looking at the fuel system AMS built for my KA-T!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO this is the best news ive heard all week. I cant wait to get mine, so I can finally get rid of this boost creep. Kinda sucks I gota get rid of the 38 and pick up a 44 tial. Maybe you could have a combo of the manifold and wastegate, im sure a lot of people upgrading there current setups will need the two.

Where can I sign up to get this manifold asap!

FINALLY! Someone who actually has data to back up what I've been saying all along, which is:

Exhaust manifold pressure does not have to be high to create boost pressure, because the delta P across the turbine wheel itself is what matters.

I know for a fact, that as the delta P across the head begins to equalize, or in this case reverse, that's when optimum flow and power come really into play.

Congratulations. You have built an exhaust manifold for a turbo car that will allow the scavenging design of the head to do its job, resulting in very high engine VE (I'd bet you're hitting around 98-99% on stock cams).

So, when do I get one and for how much??? (J/K...I read the first post regarding this question)

So will you also be selling FMIC piping to fit this specific kit as well? I'd be down for paying for piping as well. And what the pricing for a full kit with things like fuel mods and whatnot? I know you guys sell all these things seperaty at your site but what kind of price do you think you could do for a whole kit?

I would love to sell a piping kit for the kit but it would be impossible to set up a piping kit that works for everybody. There are just too many variables when it comes to IC piping.

If your running AC, you will want to clock the turbo discharge UP (SR style) and if your not running AC you will want to clock the turbo discharge DOWN. MAF / no MAF, MAF on intake / MAF on hot side, BOV flange, BOV recirc, IC your working with, piping size, etc etc... There are just too many variables to account for.

We are offereing two different cores with brackets that bolt right up to your S chassis and will soon offer a "universal" style piping kit that will have enough bends to make it from turbo to TB and enough couplers to connect everything up. It will take a little bit of fab work to get everything to work for YOUR specific application but we hope to be able to provide everything you need

Wow! one more reason why liveing in sh*thole Illinois sux....The tax on this kit would be more than a S13 Hatch(which i cant find at the moment cuz obviously Illinois realy does suck!!)

I have been checking out AMS for a week now since i finally found them on the web and thought that i had found my savior for the car i always wanted to build.

***Cries***reconsiders***and wonders where the hell ima find enough info to build a n/a KA since obviously if i cant have the best turbo kit EVER!!!!

I've been looking a lot into this kit. What would be needed to complete this set-up?

Injectors? MAF? Intercooler, charge pipes? BOV? Fuel management?

Let me know what would be needed to complete this $3200 turbo kit.

Depends on your goals. There are lots of threads around here about turbo setups and tuning methods. The way we feel the most comfortable completing this for low boost would be:

I almost agree with ya Chris, except about the Emanage Ultimate. By the time you buy all the harnesses etc, you're close to standalone prices. I'd save a few hundred more and go AEM EMS, or spend less and go MSII.

Basically, this "kit" offers the best starting point available. All of the hard parts are takin care of, turbo selection, manifold, DP, WG. The only thing left is the easy part IMO.

Maybe I can say this without getting bashed too hard.Just an expression.

If one is being charged:$1000 for the manifold$1300 for the turbo$350 for the wastegate$300 for the downpipe$150 for oil lines$100 for hardware and gasket

does that balance out right?I'm just trying to make sense of the price, even though its the BEST quality available.Also- I'm trying to justify getting a log mani over a full tube as it would cut cost $600+thanks!

Do you think it's possible to minimize the torque curve decline on .48 a/r dyno results? Is this due mostly to the turbine housing a/r or cam setup?

Jeez I didnt really realize how expensive this kit is, When you list it out like that the price doesnt make as much sense. The AMS GT32 is 650 and 300 for a downpipe seems kinad steep. Im Glad I already have everything I need and just want the mani and Wastegate

Yes, it is possible to minimize those results. The cams that were in the car are the stock N/A cams. Once we do some dyno testing with the aftermarket cams, like the chart directly above the one you are referring to, you will see a noticeable difference.

The price of the kit when bought together, includes all of the research that we did on turbochargers and separate combinations of runner design, collector design, turbine housings, measuring back pressure, changing wastegate design, etc, the list continues.

While the prices for the individual pieces may seem high. The kit price is for a tested combination that is guaranteed to perform.

This isn't a log manifold, with a turbo from eBay, the wrong fittings and no hardware. This is a complete kit (of the essential parts) to make the numbers that are listed on the site.
