I'm sure you've noticed a HUGE change here. I'm hoping your hearts didn't jump out of your chests thinking we disappeared. I hope you like the changes and that this will make things easier for for everyone.

Please bear with me while we move threads around to the correct category. Don't be alarmed if your thread is moved from where it was.

Yep, its going to look like that while we move them. All threads that haven't been moved are in the Gen Discussion section until they go where they are supposed to.

The structure is still fairly simple. We gave an area for each generation and a common area for some topics. I think its easier to navigate and view what your looking for.

We are growing and this change was deemed appropriate. Content squeezed all into one area was starting to become harder to use.

Realize the sedan and Coupe segmentation is simply for discussion to give the sedan guys a place of their own. The main forums are the top ones and the majority of threads will be there.

This is a first run to make things better. If it turns out it's not better then we will adjust accordingly

I don't think sedan people want a place of their own... I like sedans...

there was only two sub forums necessary, "general talk" and "altima coupe/sedan general" ...

For those who want less forums we have just as many who want more forums. At a minimum I believe the top segmentation should stay regardless as it makes it easier to find "like threads and like issues". The sedan and coupe forums are optional and we may end up rolling those into the top section after we have given it a bit of time to baste.

All threads were moved to General Discussion and they are now being put in their new forum. Due to that there will be a large number of threads being moved around.

Oh I know...I just keep reading old threads by accident cuz now they all say March 15th, But what I did find while roaming around was you can view a list of all active users in the last 20mins...not sure if thats new or not but its cool.

Correct. Altima is now a completely seperate sub-forum so you will now be able to see altima-only stats on the bottom.

the sedan and coupe segmentation is a bit too much...the main forums at the top can stay, but the rest bellow...

Fellas fellas fellas, let's give the new setup a chance before we start blasting it.. change is good and often necessary.. if we find that the new format turns users off, then there's a respectable and appropriate way we can go about voicing that... the mods on this forum have always been very receptive to our suggestions, they aren't trigger happy and don't step on people like some other forums, so let's at least give them the same respect..

mcheddadi, that's not directed to you, its just that i've seen some pretty harsh and self centered statements made regarding the change, as if the forum is here for ONE PARTICULAR INDIVIDUAL... it's not! so again, let's give the new setup a chance, and if we as a collective majority decide we don't like it, I'm sure the mods will listen to other constructive suggestions!

Change happens.. this should be a testament to the interest in the Altima, in both the coupes and sedans, and the fact that NICO is spending the time and effort to restructure things to make them as efficient as possible..

That being said.. to keep the email subscriptions for the posts would have been nice, instead of having to track down the ones you had already tagged to be notified..

Getting an early start on April fools day are we

I had the altima forum under favorites and when I clicked it I got a message saying I'm not allowed. I got all scared and thought being logged in to much was frowned upon >_<

In general, I don't have a problem with a split. I just hope it wasn't because the Sedan owners were feeling overwhelmed by the Coupe talk.

From what i've seen we all seem to be answering all questions (Sedan or Coupe) with the best advice and experience we can muster. Hope that doesn't get lost in translation.

Ahh...now this is going to take some getting used to. I just feel bad because I haven't been very active as of late. Been very, very busy going into escrow and whatnot. I think I'm back though, so you guys will see me around more often

So what have I missed out on besides this HUGE change?

As stated in the other thread:
audtatious wrote:This is NOT NECESSARILY PERMANENT and will be adjusted later.

Come on guys, we get complaints from sedan guys that the site is for the coupe, then we get complaints that there are simply too many threads active in one forum and it's hard to follow. We make a new forum just for the Altima (yes, Altima is the only group to receive their own forum like this) and we get complaints to put it back the way it was.

Lose-Lose (damned if you do, damned if you don't) situation for NICO? I sure hope not.

Give this some time to shake out. That's all we are asking. If it is deemed that seperate sedan/coupe forums are not necessary then we will gladly merge them with the Altima General forums and get rid of them.
I am also working on some changes that will allow access to the NICO Main Forum page much easier (without having to use two tabs, etc). Just takes a bit of time as this is a major change within the usual NICO structure.

Well I'm one of those sedan owners and I never felt overwhelmed by the Coupe talk, most of the stuff applies to both cars anyway, it's when it goes down to the part number when things don't necessarily fit

That being said, my main (or only?) concern is that I need to know where I can find those precious group buy threads. Right now the last Eibach group buy thread is in the general forum, and if all upcoming group buys go there, that's fine, but it would kinda suck if they were moved into the different sections as well so that you have to go through every subsection to find them.

Maybe (and I know I'll probably get beaten up for this suggestion) adding yet another sub-category for part purchase specific topics, which groups buys would obviously belong to, and for things like discounts or people selling their wheels etc. would work in everybody's favor here?

I second Serteleggers motion for a "FOR SALE / GROUP BUY" category or something similar.

I personally think it is too much fragmention. Is there any thought on doing this to the G35 forum. I hope not. On the G side the coupes happily mingle with the sedans.

We may consider simply adding seperate forums similar to the General section (engine, suspension, etc), but not segment coupe/sedan. Right now, Altima forums is the NICO's guinea pig
