Building these forums is a little bit like building roads for a city.

You have to plan ahead so that you can accommodate future growth! The Altima forums are some of the fastest growing sections of NICO. This is a credit to all of you for making it such a great place.

As these forums continue to grow, we need to have an infrastructure available to handle that traffic. So the admins have set up a new set of Altima forums for the group to grow into.

Sure it will take a little getting used to, but you'll see some great benefits from this change.

1.) More views and attention for each thread. In a very busy single forum environment, there are so many threads that your original thread gets bumped down to the second or third page very quickly. The number of people who click on the second or third page or beyond is much smaller than the people who view the topics on page one. So if we can divide out the forums a bit, it will keep your thread on the top page longer.

2.) Better quality of views and attention for each thread. By dividing the forum into more specific areas, we can help drive better responses. People who are more interested in say, engines, will spend more time reading and viewing the engines section. People who are more interested in audio systems will lend their attention more to the audio forum. This will help keep more experts attention on the area of their expertise rather than having to wade through multiple pages of general topics to find those few interesting threads. Ultimately this will make great strides in improving the overall knowledge and helpfulness of the entire forum.

3.) Easier to find the content you are looking for. It goes without saying that if you are on the NICO Altima forum looking for an answer to a question, you'll have a much easier time finding related information if the forums are divided into more specific topics.

4.) Fewer worthless threads. I think you'll find that people will be less likely to rehash the same topic over and over again. You'll have less need to say "Search Noob!". You'll have fewer repetitive question as well.

Let us know if you have any questions or comments. Understand that we are here on behalf of the membership of NICO. We, as staff, are always working to make this a better place.

If you don't feel the changes are an improvement, please do let us know. We're always open to your constructive criticism.

Thanks gang!

I just noticed that most of SHIFT_COUPE's sticky posts contain invalid links to topics since the topics were moved.

Anyway we can get that fixed? I guess SHIFT will be busy over the next few days... haha

Also, the search function is still searching the old single forums we had and not these new ones. Any chance we can get that fixed as well?

Cheers guys, love it here. Keep up the good, hard work you do.

Max, thanks for pointing that out. I've been pretty busy doing other things haha. I'll get those straightened out.

We are aware of the search function issue and are currently working on the solution.

You will notice some differences as you go to the subforums themselves. Search is fixed in the subforums and there are new buttons to help you "get around". The buttons are probably temporary until I can determine more appropriate changes.

The forum split was a shock at first, but I'm glad it happened. I think it will be more organzed and easier to search for thing depending on sub-topics. I've mentioned this before in the beginning but it wasn't received too well.

Nothing is ever received well to everyone. I can simply change the top banner and people scream. I'm kind of used to it at this point.
