Dude,..she's a girl.. its girly nature..

Back on topic, I've seen the GC up close and actually sat in it at the E-town HIN. Wasn't to impressed with the interior. looked very cheap, especially for the price your paying. However, the guy did a good job modding it and even threw in a pair of Bride knock off seats.. overall, it looked good, until you got close..

"According to Hyundai, the short list of Genesis coupe competitors includes the Infiniti G37, BMW 335i coupe, Ford Mustang GT, Mazda RX-8, and Mitsubishi Eclipse GT, though a comparison of specs reveals the G37 matters most..."

Hyundai had a different target audience in mind, as someone mentioned before. While I love my A/C, they're two different fields.

"But make no mistake, the Genesis sedan and coupe represent a huge gamble by Hyundai-especially given the equipment (keyless remote, HID headlamps, LCD display screen, and USB/iPod connectivity) and aggressive pricing..."

Give a few years before people start complaining about s*** not working, the thing falling apart here and there, short circuits, recalls, and the whatnot. The thing just rolled out, of course everything works great. Again, like someone said before... it's an experiment.

QFT.I think they're sexier than the AC from the outside, but when you get inside that's when it all goes to hell in a handbasket. I was chatting with a dude at the carwash in my neighborhood who had one and he let me give it a good once-over. The interior looks and feels...well, like a Hyundai. It's cheap crap, pure 'n simple. I do, however, LOVE the metallic lime green colour it comes in! It's just too bad it's such a bloody heavy vehicle...

"Mazda RX-8, and Mitsubishi Eclipse GT"

Isn't the 3.5se faster than both of these? I know I've personally beaten both of these, and most if not all 0-60/ 1/4mile times I've seen confirms they weren't flukes.

Are they just comparing them because of price bracket and/or "Sport" classification?

yes! we can beat both no problem BUT what interests me is that they said the eclipse... the eclipse is a FWD like our altima coupes... soooo it wouldnt be too far of a stretch if they tried to throw the altima coupe in as competition also... thing is with our cars, they're REALLY underestimated. not saying i could beat lambos but we are faster then many people expect so they dont consider the 3.5se as competition.

... as it should have been clear, as they aim for G37, not Altima coupe comparisons.

Anyway, I keep seeing people praising our car and that stirred my curiosity : what are the track times for 3.5 SE CVT?

Well DAAN, if you live near Carlisle, come out to it next year and do the autocross. Yes it is small and it's not like doing the track at VIR, Millville, or Poconos but you'll get the idea. It would be cool though, if a bunch of us could rent the Lightning track in Millville NJ for the day!

This is the thunderbolt track. Average speed on the straight is 180mph on my bike hitting turn 1 at about 120

The Southern Road Circuit at New Jersey Motorsports Park is our signature Thunderbolt Raceway featuring over 2.25 miles of asphalt, 14 challenging turns, a one half mile straightway and approximately 40 acres of full service paddock space. Amenities on this circuit include concession buildings, event garages, twenty (20) VIP Suites, banquet rooms, and a three (3) story timing tower with media center

Lightning RacewayThe 1.9 mile Northern Circuit is known as Lightning. This 10 corner circuit is fast and challenging featuring some of the most interesting and dramatic corners and elevation changes in the park. The 20 acre paddock area has a 4 acre skid pad and autocross area, as well as concession areas, timing towers and school and drivers meeting room facilities.

When I do this track, avg. speed around the "bowl" is about 160 with full lean, knee scraping the asphalt on the bike

this is from Hussain's signature

"best 1/4 mile so far: 13.912 @ 99.759 MPH" that was with his exhaust completely off, I believe he was getting 14.2 with the exhaust on... IMO, not very much different from the stick, a little slower, but not much...

yeah, but the 2.0T is not fast in stock form... I'm sure with boltons, and upgraded turbo, it would do amazing times though!

regarding the competitors... seems like they just took a bunch of RWD cars, and 1 FWD car... the thing is... compared to all of the RWD cars.. the Genesis coupe loses to them all except the Mazda RX-8... but that thing has a weak a$$ 230 hp rotary engine with horrible torque.... I wouldn't be bragging if that's was the only car on the list that I was copared against...

for the record, I think the only real cars in the class as the A/C (FWD coupes spwaned from sedans) are

Toyota Solara coupeHonda Accord CoupeChrystler Sebring CoupePontiac G6 coupeand the A/C owns all of these cars... but...

the A/C is NOT a sports car, and should not be compared to them just because it looks like it could be a sports car since it is the love child of a 350Z/G35 sex session in terms of styling

meh it's too early to be awake here, but whatever.i was just researching the gen coupe after seeing it at the SJ autoshow, as my sister will be needing a car soon. didn't seem too bad. also, snapped a couple pictures of a genesis coupe hyundai had modded for the show. most noticeable are the stoptech brake kit (can't see because of my s***ty camera) and the greddy ti-c catback exhaust.
