Altima 2011 Coupe Body Patches

Hey,
Just got A/C 2011 SR3.5. I noticed a small rectangular 'patch' (plastic) right in front of the rear wheel, on each side. The patch is painted body color. Anybody knows what is this for? Seems too small for stone chip protection. Is there something behind it? Thanks.

Do you have a picture of what you're talking about? If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, then it is indeed for stone chip protection.

Thanks. Hey guys, I have a question. I noticed yesterday that there is a square little area on both sides of the car, down low in front of the read wheels. It feels like almost a protective film on the car a few inches in size each way. But it's painted the same as the rest of the car. What the heck is this? The car has it on both sides. Do all coupes have this? It's a mystery to me.

They are actually clear, not body colored.
