I have a Nissan Altima 2002 sedan (2.5S) car. Last week I had to replace the Catalytic converter and the oxygen sensors. But after that one day my car stopped suddently while driving. I tried to start, but It didn't ( i thought battery is down as it was pretty old). So I had it jump started and took it to Autozone. Autozone employee verified and said that battery is old and alternator is in good condition. So I replaced my battery. But the very next day I stopped at the traffic light and when stepped on the accelerator, it didn't get the power. So I had to pull over and when tried to restart battery was down again and I had to jump start again.

Does anyone else had the similar problem. I was going through various forums and I have seen similar situations and the reasons varied from Alternator being bad ( or about to be bad) or issues with fuel sensors or issues with engine or transmission. But those are not nissan altimas.

So anyone with Nissan altima had a similar issue? I am taking my car to the mechanic who replaced the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors, but wanted to know if anyone had similar issue.

Thanks for comments and I will post once I hear from the mechanics.

I think there was a recall recently on the Altima with the 2.5L engine. You should ask your dealership about this.. even though you are out of warranty.. you should still get the recall taken care of for you.

There are tons, and tons, and tons of recalls and tsb's on the 02 Altima.......Both 4 and 6 bangers. There are some serious, very serious and potentialy dangerous ones. Might want to check with Nissan to see that they have all been performed.

if your battery was disconnected or dead, you need to take the car to the dealer and have them do an IAVL (idle air volume learn) it is erased every time the battery loses charge, and it can cause a car to stall out.

That is not true. My battery has been disconnected dozens of times......for months at a time.........It still knows How to Idle. If you car won't Idle.....it is not because your battery was disconnected. Now in Honda's..your Radio won't work.....
