Well I upgraded JWT ECU, 740cc, SAFCII and Zeitronix wideband and after a few weeks the engine started knocking. I found a new engine rebuild on NICO classifieds 95 KA with Zero miles. Installed everything except the transmission and hope to have her running next weekend. It has taken me a over 3 weeks to get to this point because of so much gunk. This engine was nasty and so was the engine bay. Here are a few pics.

Old Engine

New Engine

This is a shot of the back of the engine showing all the emissions Crap!

Here is the new engine with all that crap removed! Only thing I didn`t remove was the butterfly valves. As you can see below the FPR the vacuum device with a rod in it.

What did you do about PCV? The valve and hoses are much easier to access with the engine out. You can at least plug the stock hose running to the intake manifold from the PCV and run a hose directing blow-by to atmosphere for now. That way you don't have to later on. And later, you can direct it into the intake or whatever you choose.

that turbo has a very high percentage rate that it will completely destroy your motor, pending on what it decides to do when it blows.

it has a near 100% fail rate as well, from what I've seen.

Yup. Right where that hose goes onto the nipple of the PCV valve, remove the hose. I plugged it with a bolt and hose clamp. Then run a hose from the PCV valve nipple out to somewhere in the engine bay. I routed mine out the front of the IM area and then pointed it towards the ground right near the fusebox. Same with the valvecover hose. I plan to do something with then in the near future.

I talked to the owner of MJM Turbos and will be getting the scoop tomorrow! He said it will probably take around a hour to fix the turbo. I will post info tomorrow.

Ah yea I understand what you are getting at. The 740cc where bought because I found a used JWT ECU with 72lbs program for a good deal. I figure it will hold up to anything I could afford to throw at it. The engine was rebuilt by another NICO member who decided to go another route. Completely rebuilt stock with heads timing chain, timing cover, powder coated valve cover for only 525.00 So I couldn`t pass it up. I figure I throw this in the car and play with it. I am hoping for over 300hp. Especially since I just replaced my turbo with a Garret.

Yes I replaced my fuel pump with a Walbro 255. I also upgraded my turbo yesterday or a better word replaced it with a Garrett.

Found another problem with the 95 motor in a 91. You must use 95 bolts bolts on 95 valve cover on 95 head

Yep:)

She cranked on the first try:) I don`t have the turbo hooked up but wanted to make sure the engine was running and give it a few minutes to seat the rings. I will show you some pictures this week of how I rigged it to run without the turbo connected. I took the oil pressure line and duck tape it to the drain line. Looks very ghetto but the important thing is she cranked and idled with no problems:) I also had to rig the temp intake pipe!

Attaboy Bobby - I'm right behind you in my install...

I'll be interersted to hear about the break in, as mine is a zero-mile engine as well.

Before I install my new turbo I wanted to test the turbo oil pressure, turbo return line and seat the rings. I took a picture of the setup to show you how you can test things before installing the turbo. Notice the rather nice duck tape job. This is a picture of my pressure line ducked tape to my drain line. If you notice oil leaking or spraying out either you have to much oil pressure or your return line is not working. This is good way of testing your setup before you install that expensive turbo. A few things to note is that you don`t want any thing near that turbo flange because it can backfire and burn something. The second picture shows my temp setup of the intake and maf. I just used my existing pipes to set it up.
