You need to leave it running long enough for the engine to reach normal operating tempature and leave it running for about 5 more minutes. That will allow the rings to start seating. Also I went ahead and set the timing which is fun with a underdrive pulley. I probably will check the timing again to make sure before I start bolting the turbo on tomorrow.

I have a UR pulley and to to be honest I am not sure if I do have the timing set up right. It is really hard to set it because it depends on what angle you are looking at the timing marks. If I have problems with the car I might put the old pulley back on to set the timing and then put back on the UR pulley:(

Well my friend of mine came over yesterday to help me get her running. Ex mechanic for Toyota now computer geek. Since I didn`t have any valve cover bolts I just threw 4 on there to hold the valve cover on for testing. Bad idea my friend pulled the spark plug wire out and out came a bunch of oil. We then go to Lowes and get bolts and tap and die set from parts store. After spending some time with a air compressor blowing out the spark plug holes and tapping the threads for the valve cover. We crank her back up and he starts pulling number 4 wire still run the same he pulls number 3 wire and it still runs the same. Well you guessed it I had crossed 3 and 4. Dam I need to start working with glasses. Everything now seems to be running good for a few exceptions.

1. Exhaust leak at the downpipe connecting to the exhaust. Missing gasket.

2. Stalls when stopping DAM OPEN BOV.

3. tapping noise around the head. Worry about that later. Hoping exhaust leak.

4. Dammit lost one of my drive shaft bolts.

Car idles 20 vacuum. Doesn`t stall out at idle seems to run fine. Only problem now is no boost:( I guess I will have to try the boost leak test. Weird as good as it is running I wouldn`t think there would be a boost leak.

Car is running good. The only thing I did for a break in period is let it idle for 10 minutes to get it at operating temp. Then I raised the rpm`s to 2k for a few minutes. Then I bolted the turbo on and cranked it few times tuning it and finding leaks. The engine idles good runs good just no boost.

Problems so far:

1. Small leak on the turbo drain. I think I forgot to tighten it a freakin PITA to get to.

2. A lot of ticking noise under the valve cover. I am hoping that the clearances were checked properly. Since I did not rebuild the engine myself. Dam I wished I checked it before the install.

3. One gasket missing between the down pipe and the exhaust. I really don`t feel like crawling under the car again to fix it. I will visit my favorite muffler shop. Curtis is cool in Pelham Exhaust Shop. Plus he has a new truck with a custom monster turbo pushing 700hp. I got to see it

4. COLD! I don`t operate to well in the cold:( My Turbo loves it me don`t.

Crap I just relized no pictures of the new install. I will do it today with my new digital camera. I think this is my 6th camera Canon A610 love it:)

Pretty easy to make and it works good. I think everybody that has a KAT should have one. Takes the guess work out. You have a leak you will hear it.
