2015? they might as well make this 2025!
most rogue owners are fleeing the brand left & right, due to not only common issues: frequent brake issues, transmissions failing, and other various little things - but because nissan is not keeping pace with other companies. hyundai has taken over what nissan once had - and someone in Nissan Corporate thinks releasing this rogue (which is bland by todays stand point of view) in 2015 is a good idea? People are not inspired by the nissan rogue TODAY; and that needs to be addressed ASAP! car buyers were not inspired by ford, chevy, nor dodge for years; ask those brands how that worked out for them.

WHAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IN THE ROGUE:
OUT DATED, BORING ENGINE. GIVE US A DIESEL OPTION
WEAK TRANSMISSION
BORING INTERIOR, WITH CHEAP PLASTICY KNOBS. GIVE US MODERN PUSH BUTTONS!
BETTER BRAKES WHERE THE CALIPERS DONT GO EVERY 50,000 MILES
MORE NOISE DAMPENING
BETTER SPARE TIRE ARRANGEMENT.(i dont want to empty my trunk out in the rain, just to get to my spare!!)
INCREASE VISIBILITY, BY ADDRESSING THE SLOPING ROOF IN THE REAR. MOUNTING A GIANT/THICK REAR VIEW MIRROR BLOCKS MY FORWARD VIEW!!!

when i see the front end of this rogue, i see the 2010 camry nose;

Too early to tell, we need to wait for the specs and for a test drive. As far as styling goes I think its an improvement over the current model, especially if they've improved visibility a little bit which it almost looks like they may have, but again its real tough to tell from the photo.

The current Rogue recieves above-average reliablity rankings from all of the major sources with the exception of the 2008 model, in particular I like Truedelta.com for real-world assessment. What this tells me is that all competitors have minor issues, such as weak brake calipers and rotors, and compared to the average the Rogue is at least as good or slightly better. Do I wish Nissan had done a litle better job with durability and quality - yes, but I am not unhappy considering I got a great deal compared to the Honda and Toyota I was cross shopping against. Is the Rogue quality on par with the CRV and RAV4 - no, but I think its in the ballpark. If Nissan can continue to improve on quality and innovative design with the next gen Rogue I think it will do well, considering the current model sells quite well already. A little larger size to equal that of the CRV and RAV4 is a must, however that will likely continue to eat in to the sales of the Murano which is very pricey and doesn't have a lot of distinction over the much lower priced Rogue.

IMO a well executed CVT is better than a conventional auto. I find tge CVT in the 2013 Maxima to be the most well executed CVT yet. Theres no whine or rubbery feeling, power across the band, and unmatched smoothness. If Nissan keeps it up and puts similarly refined cvts in all their cars, they have somethig really special.

Sidenote, I am a car enthusiast so I used to HATE the idea of a CVT, but after experiencing them, especially in the 2013 Maxima, I get it now, and Im on board. Just my $02.

We've driven everything Nissan builds... with and without the CVT.

Our assessment? The CVT is great in vehicles with adequate horsepower (like the 3.5-liter). In vehicles with smaller engines, it negatively impacts the driving experience.

I'd agree, the Rogue lost reputation from the defects that are occurring on the out going models. Nissan needs to seek a 50% improvement and maintain pricing to gain back their customers.
I highly doubt Nissan will produce a diesel motor on their vehicles. (In the states at least) Although the CVT is a problematic transmission, I believe that Nissan will still stick with the CVT, but make improvements. Lets face it, the Rogue or any competing crossover is "Sporty". The crossovers in the states are utilitarian. That's why Nissan has the Juke, so we could rule out a Manual transmission for the Rogue in the States.
For the heart of the Rogue, I dear hope they don't use the QR25. I love the QR25(Torque Heavy), but it's just boring for the Rogue IMO. It would be great if they'd use the MR16-Turbo, but I doubt Nissan would because they would need to some how separate the buyer guide from buying the Rogue or a Juke. That's like buying a VQ Altima or a Maxima. As for a V-6 option I'd say no. From my knowledge, I could see Nissan use the same QR25 or something new and more efficient. Down the road Nissan will probably squeeze a electric hybrid model in too since competing manufactures are adding electric hybrids in their crossovers.
I look forward to seeing the new Rogue overall. It would be great to see something new on the roads here in Iowa since the Rogue is a fairly popular car here. I would still hope to see quality and noise reduction on the new generation.

I actually like the CVT in the Rogue. I despise automatics, but if you're gonna have one, I feel like a CVT is better.

I do a lot of test driving, and renting nissans,(Im looking for a new daily) the new cvts feel great, however I rent the same car and they feel slugish and tired, and that dawm noise they make when, they have not been cared for,is the worst I've had to deal with.then this whole check cvt oil only at this temp.all this is kinda putting me off a new nissan.not that I can aford any thing higher than a basic altima or a juke

I think the CVT is what makes the Rogue feel as relatively quick as it does. It does a good job of really wringing out all it can out of the 2.5 motor because power is readily available and its delivery is very smooth. I think a 5 speed auto mated to the same engine would be slower.

In something like the Maxima, the CVT is amazing, because it doesn't even feel like a CVT. There is just gobs of power everywhere.

I wonder how a small turbo on the 2.5L would be. Thinking 5psi. 200whp Rogue would be fun to drive. :)

5psi, making 30hp?? at that rate, it wouldnt even be worth the extra oil changes, hassles, nor dangers of failing.

depends a lot on the motor man. i went from 140hp at the crank to 200whp in my old Cavalier, pushing 6 psi on the 2.4L Twin Cam motor. I'd have to read up on the Sentra SE-R and turboing :)

i just did the math, since you said 200whp, so i took that as we currently have 170, you said 200 - so roughly 30hp give or take.

regardless, im against turbo's all the way on daily drivers. its an added responsibility i choose not to embark on UNLESS its made to only really 'kick in' above 4000rpm. now a days it seem turbo's are timed in such a fashion that they are constantly at peak power before even 2000rpm. thats ridiculous in my book. turbo's are not supposed be doing an engine. they are supposed to supplement/augment a strong engine. example: a heavy ford explorer with a small 4cyl, and a turbo thats almost maxing out at 1800rpm.

eh, minus drivetrain loss I'd estimate we have roughly 145 at the wheels. But i see your point on daily drivers.

If there is anything one can say with certainty about the 2014 Nissan Rogue, based on the provided images, it would be that the head rests for the rear seats are FINALLY adjustable. lol

Its strange, Looks like there is a difference in the rear window 3rd panel from these spy shots to the US version. Maybe there is a difference?

Darylzero, its obvious they are not, due to the UK plates. From what ive heard though is that they are going to a universal design. No more Different body style between Asian, European, and Middle eastern markets, from Canadian, US, and Mexico. So the Qashqai and the Rogue should be the same, which also means better aftermarket part availability. :dblthumb: :bigthumb: :naughty: !
