In my former life, was industrial color technologist, matching colors under different light sources.
"Daylight" lamps have a blue tint and are supposed to mimic the color of (indirect) light reflected from a clear (blue) sky, with no direct sunlight. These tend to have a "cold" appearance.
I didnt really study all that b4 bot my set of HIDs -- just looked at pictures in the ads. Now it makes sense.
Bot Xentec 6000k bi-xenons for hi-lo dual beam ; included was relay harness for hi-lo switching and fat ballasts.
Found the 6000k too blue for me... so researched and traded for 4300k -- like them much better. They are white and illuminate the road and white signs as white light should, not as light blue. In my town, the stock HIDs on BMWs, Infinits, Lexus, Mercedes, etc appear to be 4300k -- not blue like my orig 6000k bulbs. The 43ks are sl bluer, less yellow than stock halogens -- a good thing. These 43ks dont say, look at me look at me look at me..... yay, since dont want police to look at me. 35w are 3x brighter than halogens --wouldnt want higher wattage, defeating the lower wattage advantage -- easier on all components. One ballast was DOA -- replacement is good.
About light -- White light =all colors, all visible wavelengths. So if not white, then less light output.
And last opinion, if not white, then they are less natural, and less safe for driver and opposing traffic.
