KA24E in a '90 240SX modified for Dirt Track racing. Bought a Walbro in-line Fuel Pump last Feb. Ran all last year every other week until mid November ( in an misubisi).

In Feburary of this year we moved the Fuel cell and pump to our 240. Ran 2 races 2 weeks apart then blew the motor. Rebuilt the motor and went to start it and no fuel. Checked things out and found the Fuel Pump is totaly dead. Connected it direct to the Battery and it is dead. Ordered a replacement.

My question is this pump lasted just over a year. I thought Walbro pumps were beter than that. Do we need to budget $150 every year for a new fuel pump or did we just get a bad one or??????

How long should it last? New pump is the GSL-392 255LPH HIgh Pressure. Engine is pure stock (rules don't allow any fun stuff)

Comments?

Im on my third walbro in five years, I have the 255 lph in tank unit. The first pump died because the change in sock design meant I ran out of fuel with almost 3 gallons left in the tank, no flow equaled overheating, which equaled chewed up pump internals, oops. The second pump died for no reason, and the tank was full too.

The first lasted 10K miles, my bad, the second made it about double that, and the current has been in for around 35K. Ive heard the walbro pumps can tend to be hit or miss. Good luck with your second one.

Thanks for the input. If Walbros are hit or miss then who else makes a quality IN_LINE high volume /High pressure unit?

Any other input gang?

OUCH! Probably better off buying 3 Walbros for spares at that cost.

Just goes to show that ther is ALLWAYS an option.

Thanks.

Last time i checked Walbro's were only $100 shipped... Still, to have to shell out $100 every 1.5 years is a bit overkill for a fuel pump.

Where are you finding a walbro for $100? The best I can find for the 255LPH High Pressure unit is about $135 plus shipping.
