Hi all, I recently acquired a 06 M35. Its equipped with a non bose audio system. I wanted to know if its possible to add a subwoofer on the rear deck. I'm not a huge fan of subwoofers in the truck. They look tacky and take up a lot of space. So I'm wondering if I could cut up a circular hole to the rear shelf deck to add a subwoofer?..

Take the rear deck liner off and see if the factory cutout is already there. I believe all body's come with this cutout. There was another recent forum here discussing amps and someone mentioned an Alpine sub that might fit.

This is the tread msvara is talking about:

Basically, what you'll need is to buy an MTX re-Q (or similar) to convert the stock amp signal to something your new amp (that will power your subwoofer) can use and then connect your sub to your new amp. I'm going with the MTX re-Q sound processor, Polk Audio PA400.1 Amp, and Alpine SWS-1023D Sub. I'm also changing my speakers, but that's easy (nothing more than connecting them required).

This information was given to me by EniGmA1987 so all credit goes to him. He helped me understand the M's sound system because I'm coming from a 99 Maxima which was far more simpler.

Instead of creating a new thread I am bumping this one since the question is relevant (regardless of year). Plus it enrichens the thread.

After doing some research the hole is there on the non-subwoofer M35/m45 cars. Has anyone added an aftermarket subwoofer there in that OEM spot? I'm thinking of adding an aftermarket sub but I want to maximize my trunk space. I don't mind the coil extending/protruding through the trunk/deck liner.

Basically, it should be able to fit but wondering if anyone ran into issues, etc...

TIA

My Sub is blown and I am looking to replace it with the same fit and size. Simply wondering if anyone has done this and can provide some step-by-step instructions for removing rear deck etc... and some feedback for wiring. Also can someone recommend a Sub that will fit exactly the same. I don't wish to cut or drill holes in mount areas or trunk liner. Thanks in advance!
