My G didn't come with the stock spoiler, so I ordered one. Now that I have it I find myself in the garage looking at my car with it on, with it off, with it on, with it off....

I really can't decide if I want it on. Of course its not a glue on, so the holes are very perminent. What do you think?

Side note: Here's what I purchased: http://www.myspoiler.com/abs134a-l4-06.html

It looks and feels pretty good to me, no flaws. However, the mounting holes are no where near the stock holes, and I'd have to drill through top and bottom of the trunk, which doesn't sound fun if I mess up. I'm waiting for an explaination of why this is from the company.

Welcome to Nicoclub Sneake!

I put on my own rear spoiler (With the help of Gwoods) a couple months back and love it. Here's the thread about installation.

zerothread?id=317786

I would certainly be curious as to why the holes don't match your trunk... My advice to you is that you had better dam well be certain that it's lined up properly before you commit to drilling... oh... and make sure the paint matches!

If you're comfortable doing it, then I say GO FOR IT! And for GOD'S SAKE GIVE US PICS WHEN IT'S DONE!

Ok, I know how much you love pics around here, so I snapped two, just to illistraight where I would have to drill. Keep in mind that I simply eye balled it for your benifit. The marks are probably within a quarter inch of almost exact, but you get the idea. Those black lines are of course the drill guides. In the center of each is where I'd have to put holes in my new baby

Here lies part of my delema. X marks the spot where I'd have to drill. Not good...

I have no idea why, but I actually understand what you mean.

Funny enough, I knew exactly what he meant too...

I don't know about that drill location man...

How can you be expected to drill into the corner lip like that???? Something's screwey! Have you heard back from the seller yet?

Not yet. Their sales office is open late, but support closes at six and stops answering the phones at four. I'll be calling them first thing in the morning.

I'd understand if the holes weren't perfectly lined up, or if I'd have to drill towards the center more, but on the side curves? wtf man. There's over an inch gap between those sheets. Not cool.

Thanks for the welcome, though I am not worthy

Now, which way to the punch and pie?

Hey SneaKe, I had the OEM Spoiler installed over the holiday and love it....makes the G look meaner IMO. I checked my trunk and didn't see any holes on the inside were you have the "X"s

Hope you get it worked out...you will be happy with the new look!!

Two things.

If the holes don't line up, don't even think about someting that could screw up that beautiful car

I would never altar it, even with parts that fit.

I don't know if this helps, but when I got my G from the dealer brand new, they had put on the spoiler for some other guy who was going to buy it. I didn't notice it at the time, but after many a bath, I noticed a dent in the underside of the trunk. I didn't think much of it, but thought it was wierd to have on a brand new vehicle.

I had a friend looking at my new stereo upgrades in the trunk and he asked me where the dent came from. I said I didn't know. Upon further investigation he concluded it was from the dealer drilling the holes for the add-on spoiler. It's as if they drilled through the top of the trunk too far and dented the underside. The dent is in almost the exact same spot as your X in your pictures. The spoiler is slightly different than yours (the 2007 model), but what are the odds my dent is in the exact same location of your holes to be drilled? I can try to get some pics if you think they may be helpful.

By the way - go for it! I agree with the ninja turtle comment- the spoiler is a must IMO.

I have one with and one without. When I first bought mine (without) I just knew I would get one......but haven't yet, and don't think I will. Would rather put the money else where. Got used to seeing it without...faster - less weight.

I'm not big on body mods. Though i do like the OEM wings i would rather spend my money on performance parts.

update: Still dealing with 'the company'. Finally spoke with customer service, aka, Fred (the only customer service guy). He's never heard of my issue and is going to call the manufacturer. So I got that going for me. yup...

Basically if they send me one that lines up with the factor mounts, I'll install. If not, refund. I'll spend that $ on something else. perhaps the engine dampener, or 5/16th. Or maybe I'll just glue it to the car.

Seemed to work well for him. I'm told that stickers add +5hp each. That must be one fast car...

Oh, and I noticed that my trunk has a Nissan part logo on it. Of course I know they make Infiniti, but perhaps that is my issue, wrong part? Check your trunks people, see if your trunk lid is Nissan or Infiniti.

I haven't heard back from MySpoiler.com about the mounting issue. So monday I'm going to send it back, assuming they let me.

I think I like the back end of the car better without the spoiler. Just wish I would have realized that before I made the purchase...

I had thought about that. But then I figured it be cheaper to buy a 2nd trunk lid and install the spoiler on that. Then I could swap depending on my mood.

Now, that sounds like a good idea! I would install the spoiler on the extra lid.

Sounds like you might have wanted to post the poll before ordering the spoiler!

They look great IMO, but be sure to measure twice and drill once!!

ADD!

I'm kinda in the same boat...I've bought one and haven't put it on yet.Mine is OEM, but instead of paint, it's Carbon Fiber. I've laid it in place, and it does look pretty badass, but at the same time I don't wanna be too ricey. Although I do already have a CF hood, so if I have some, I guess it won't hurt to add a little more. But ya, I say go with it, I also agree and have the feeling of envy when I see another G rollin past me with one and I'm sportin the naked butt of my G.

I was really happy that the coupe I settled on didn't have the spoiler. Every G35 I see has one. I'd like a spoiler, but not one that looks like melting modeling clay put on as an after thought.

The only benefit I see, is a little rear downforce at high speeds and a .01 Cd improvement.
