I went back in immediately after I saw the light was on as I was driving out of the service bay. he called the tech that worked on it and he said they tried clearing it but now the car sees the sensor was malfunctioning, thus the light.

Just a quick update. Infiniti replaced the part, I paid for labor. Seems all is working well and definitely makes the car much nicer. I hope I won't have to go back in for anything!

For another of my issues that I searched for, here's a 3-year :bump:

I bought my 2011 M56 and I mentioned in another thread that my intelligent cruise control seemed a little trippy. Even at the longest distance setting, the car would keep barreling down at 80 mph until I was less than a half car length from the car in front of me... Then the car would suddenly acknowledge the presence of the car in front and the car symbol would appear in the instrument cluster screen and my car slams on the brakes. What's odd is that my car would then stay back for the appropriate distance after it senses the other car. It's like the sensor worked, just with a very delayed response.

When I'd be behind a tall trailer or even SUV the distance control would seem to act normal to me, so I assumed the sensor was aimed too high for smaller vehicles, right?
Then I went over a raised horizontal seam on the road surface and the car tripped out and beeped like I was about to hit something... so now I assumed it was aimed too low!
In stop and go traffic, sometimes it would sense the cars, but it seemed like hitting the DCA button would "heighten its senses".

Since I figured the front sensor is what carried the bulk of the technology capabilities and features that I specifically sought out in this car, I went to the dealer for them to look at it. Of course, I didn't mention the front end damage in the carfax, lest the dealer tried to sell me another sensor (From me looking over the front of the car, I don't think the damage was major, but if I keep having issues I might reach out to the previous owner for some detail).

They did all their testing and the physical checks of the unit itself showed as OK. However, they requested authorization to laser align the sensor. About 200 bucks later, everything works and the DCA creeps up and takes off like I expect it to.
The only oddities, but kinda expected I saw were at low speed where:
1. The vehicle in front of me had this reflective diamond plate lower half and the sensor couldn't seem to see a car.
2. My car sensed a car in front of me until it suddenly turned right and my car didn't seem to recognize the one that was now in front of me.
I'm still playing it safe and keeping my wits about me - safe distance, good speed. I wouldn't ask of the car to do anything I wouldn't do myself lest the laws of Physics let me down. These systems are just driver aids after all.
