I would be sure to FLUSH the system of all the stuff and put the R12 back in if you want...

Some 93 MY's had 134.. The J30s and G20s all came with 134a.

Yep, you can evacuate it like any other refrigerant. Like Wes said, do a flush afterwards.

I had the conversion done on my old '89 Chevy Suburban and it worked great and was plenty cold. They informed me that it wouldn't be as cold but I was totally happy with it.

One thing I didn't see mentioned was the service after the conversion for the remainder of the life of the vehicle will be cheaper as R134a is cheaper and future charges of the system will save you money. That was a big factor in my decision to convert my old Suburban especially since it held a lot of freon with the rear a/c option.

I've been rear ended four times in my life ???????????????

Never been rearended in 42 years and 750,000 miles of driving, in fact never had an at fault accident except as a teenager..............only 3 tickets and the last one was 21 years ago..............not counting parking tickets in NYC.

Guess some have the black cloud over their car.............I would definely install EXTRA REAR WARNING LIGHTS..........weak red and yellow and white strobes when brakes are applied. At least 100 new LEDs.

An R134a conversion may be worthless as this gas will also be phased out by 2008 to the consumer.

Moving to St Louis seemed to fix the problem. Drivers in Spokane WA are all uninsured idiots (thank goodness for uninsured motorist coverage).
