In order to put on coupe/fastback door panels you have to first remove the pillars and other bracing in the 'vert door.

Thanks guys! Exactly what I was looking for! One more question...

Can I use the Hatch doors? We got maaaaaaaany cheap Hatch doors here and would be nice to just swap doors instead of grinding.

Yeah, they talked about it but I didn´t find a final yes or no... But that´s ok, I´ll just try to fit it.

Coupe and hatch doors are identical from what I understand.

Here's another thread that might be helpful for you. I started this thread last year and still haven't found the time or courage to start the project... But, there's good info in there about swapping doors.

No problem Mike!

If you do the conversion can you take a few pics and do a little write up?

It's not rocket science by any means, but you might come across a few tricks or have some nice tips for people (like me) who want to do this in the future.

thanks

Sure, the car is not shipped yet. Need to wait for a month at least.I´m collecting parts and building the engine now, need to have everything waiting when the car arrive and work 24 hours a day to make it perfect.

I actually just bought doors off of a coupe, so we're going to attmept to do a little switch-a-roo with the whole doors sometime within the next few weeks. (My damn boyfriend's putting an RB26DETT in his zenki s14 and doing a kouki front end conversion, so it's really hard to get him away from his car to help me with mine! ) But if we do it in the next few weeks, I'll be sure to take lots of pics and write any tips on here.

hatch/coupe/vert all identical from b pillar forward, doors are interchangeable. there aren't any real tips, its about as easy a mod as you can do.The wiring harness isn't all going to plug in tit for tat but you can rewire it as needed. The door is held on by 4 bolts that are under the fender. I removed the fenders at first but I've found since then that its not really necessary. Loosening them will help quite a bit though, just take out the bottom and top 10mm bolts/nuts and take out the first 3 along the top of the fender.

I had to remove the second latch off my door frame to get the door to close, and you'll have to unbolt that stupid metal bracket that comes off the "hump" behind the door frame or it will hit your door panels. I used vicegrips on the stupid star fasteners. It really helps to have a second person help you with the doors as you tighten them up, this is what I did. When you take the stock doors off there is some goo that is left on the door mounting area that you'll need to scrape off. Some people say to mark the position of hte old door hinges so you can line up the next but in my experience by the time you scrape that goo the marks will be obscured anyway AND doors tend to sag and they sag differeng amounts so you will probably need to readjust it anyway. Don't forget about the pin on the inside, infact remove it before you remove the hinges. I use a punch and a small hammer. Keep it because you'll need to reuse it on the other doors. Also if you take coupe/hatch doors with power mirrors then you'll need to either swap your manual mirrors over or take the power mirror switch and run wiring for them (verts have no mirror wiring).

and the window glass is the same too so you don't have to worry about swapping that over. I couldn't find a "black box" compatible with my wiring harness... I was told that this is the automatic window control, but my windows work fine and the automatic down feature still works too so I'm just not sure. Finally make sure you remember to switch your door locks over from your vert so that the keys match. they are held on with 2 bolts from inside the door panel (I think 10mm's) and then you have to carefully unclip the plastic clips that hold the door rods onto the handle and you can just swap the whole handle over or if yours are messed up you can swap the cylinders but since you have to take the handle off to swap cylinders its kinda extra work.
