I've seen quite a few posts about knock sensors lately. I changed my knock sensor on my '95 Max last weekend. My haynes manual instructed to take apart the exhaust manifold to get to the knock sensor. I was able to get to it without doing so. It saved a whole lot of time and headache. The knock sensor on this year Max is located directly underneath the intake manifold. I've got pretty large hands but I was able to squeeze my hand in underneath the intake manifold. Myself and a friend tried and tried to get the bolt unscrewed but it wouldn't budge. After about an hour of trying we sprayed some PB Blaster on the bolt and let it set for a few. After that, the bolt came unscrewed first time I tried. Installation from this point took only about 10 minutes. Beware tho, if you attempt this process, you'll probably end up with some cuts on your hands. There's several sharp plates sticking up around the sensor that gave us both some pretty bad gashes. I purchased this sensor used off of a guy on nico. It has been tested and works fine. Instead of going to a dealer and paying 300 bux to get one profesionally installed, I did it myself for $45. Just a piece of mind in case you need to change yours. Cheers!
