RTFSM and RTOM for Read The Factory Service Manual and Owner's Manual, respectively. Should be RTPP for Read The Previous Posts.

Ban is the persent tense of the verb of which banned is the past tense. So it is neither an acronym nor an abbreviation.

I broke the link to the picture. It was too big and required left to right scrolling. -beancooker-

PHONE REPAIR 101

A farm wife called the local phone company to report her telephone failed to ring when called - and on the few occasions when it did ring, her dog always moaned right before the phone rang.

The telephone repairman proceeded to the scene, climbed a telephone pole, hooked in his test set, and dialed the subscriber's house.

The telephone didn't ring until after the dog moaned just like the lady said.

Climbing down from the pole, the telephone repairman found:

1. The dog was tied to the telephone system's ground wire with a steel chain and collar.

2. The wire connection to the ground rod was loose.

3. The dog was receiving 90 volts of signaling current when the number was called.

4. After a couple of jolts, the dog would start moaning and then urinate.

5. The wet ground would complete the circuit, thus causing the phone to ring.

Which demonstrates that some problems CAN be fixed by pissing and moaning.

anaymous

I guess you didn't P and M enough to fix that classic Ford you owned.

Sorry Beancooker, staying on topic here is beyond us, way beyond us.

LOL

Sounds like an old party line problem?

Trust me I did but not having much money as I was still in school, after a couple of trips to the local Ford dealer that couldn't find anything wrong because it didn't rain in their shop. I began replacing the entire ignition system, battery, plugs, points, condensor, coil, distributor cap wires, fuel filter, air filter, the mf still wouldn't start whenever it rained. No spark... & no one could figure out why? A lot of my friends were into cars and they couldn't figure out the problem either.I just sold it on a sunny dry day but hated Fords ever since.Actually I hadn't thought much about it until I stumbled upon this site and it began to bring back those painful memories of a long time ago.My first car and it had to be such a POS I wrote a few papers in English class on it as it was a good topic for writing and bashing I sympathize with some of the younger members here having issues with their used G's. I don't buy used vehicles anymore.I'd rather eat the depreciation and have a new vehicle with all new parts, a warranty and the use of a loaner should the vehicle require service as it sure minimizes the hassle factor. My previous vehicle was a 92 Lexus 5 speed manual. At that time that was the best vehicle I had ever owned but my G35 beats that vehicle by a considerable margin even with some oil consumption.
