A sad day... (sort of)

A general discussion forum for G35 and G37 owners and a great place to introduce yourself to the NICOclub G-Series Forums!

It is with heavy heart that I must take my leave of the NICO forums. I stepped over to the dark side last night and traded my G in for this 2008 IS 250:

(Broken links fixed farther down)

I've really enjoyed the last two years, all the friends made, all the wonderful wisdom, all the fun conversations and witty exchanges... (even the not so witty and sometimes less than friendly exchanges were entertaining!) Thanks to all of you for this great place to share experiences, stories and information with like-minded enthusiasts.

It's a shame that the word "Ford" had to be used so often... but hey, you gotta give to take! (Sorry... one last parting shot Rich!)

Best of luck to all...

But you were one of the nice ones. What am I going to do now? Argue with Jacko and tell SVT and RN to quit it with the FURD S#IT?

Very nice!!! Dark blue has become one of my favorites!!!You know you don't have to go anywhere. You can still hang out here!!! But, if you do, you'll be missed here. And, if you do....at least your neighbors have TASTE....I see FORD's all around you!!!

Thanks Rich... I'd be happy to stay and continue to contribute. I just didn't know if that was kosher once I was minus my Infiniti. Nate needs my support to contain the Ford infection!! (You're right about the neighborhood... I didn't even notice. I don't pay much attention to Fords. lol)

I gotta tell ya man, that blue, coupled with the tan leather is a KILLER combo!! Lexus interiors are so much more luxurious! Not to mention the incredibly high marks they get from Consumer Reports. I'm going to sorely miss the 100 ponies though!! (The IS 250 is 204 hp and 185 torque)

Nate... thanks for the kind words. I'm here for ya, my Ford hatin' brother!

Dave... to yo mama.

Jacko... You might stir the pot with the biggest spoon in history, but you are ALWAYS entertaining.

I like Lexus. I drive my mothers 07 ES all the time when she wants to go somewhere. I wish Infiniti could paint a car like Lexus does.

BigWillie, there is no reason to leave just becasue. Heck, there are changes in store for the Infiniti area here at NICO and you'll fit in just fine. I think NICO realizes that good members who enjoy being here need a playground, and we're getting one pretty soon. Stick around!

Ok... and I'll talk real slow so that you can keep up too!

Let me try with Photobucket. Maybe you'll be able to see them that way.I got the AT w/ paddle shift, and RWD. I wanted the NAV w/ backup cam, but I liked the color combo of this one so much that I opted to go without a couple of bells and whistles.

Did that work for ya Nate?

You are absolutely right Bob... I was amazed at the quality of the finish on this car!

I will indeed stick around. I've had lots of fun here!

BTW... will I get bashed for changing my sig to show the IS? Is that pushing it too much? Oh, wait, we have a Dodge truck in one sig... that shouldn't matter!!

Nice,

I hope you'll stay. Congrats on your new toy.

You never know somebody may have some questions about your new toy. I think we all enjoy your posts.

So so far how is the ride?

More pix needed especially interior.

Thanks Zozo... those were just some quickie pics so I could toss 'em up. I knew I would take shyte if I didn't! The interior is beautiful I'll get some up ASAP. The ride is quite different from the G. It is much more refined, not as harsh, but still handles really well.

TeflonG35 saidIt's not an infiniti..... but its a beautiful car.

Thanks Teflon. I agree on both counts!

Hmmm...first off my disclaimer: I'm judging this question solely off the pics you have provided! Pictures can lie and I mean nothing by it...

Question: How do you fit in that 250? I test drove one and told the guy I couldn't fit in the dang thing. Of course, he was ready to make me a "nice deal" so that I could fit but it would have never been comfortable. I felt like my knees were always bumpin the steering wheel nomatter how I moved the seat. You seam like a taller guy as well so I am curious? The 250 really seemed to need the power steering column like it's big bro the 350 for me to get into it.

That's an absolutely valid question Brent... I actually researched the inside, as well as outside dimensions of the IS compared to the G coupe, and found that the two have almost identical dimensions for the driver and passenger. I am 6'4", and fit very nicely... keeping in mind that I prefer a bit of a more snug fit. I would never feel comfortable in a Crown Vic. Well, firstly, cause it's a FORD!! But also because there is too much space in the car. There is plenty of leg, head and shoulder room in the IS.... but of course I test drove it first!

Mine was knee space. I can make do with the others (I mean I have a one of those dang 'box-sized' Jeeps too) but knee space and the steering wheel thumping my knee every turn wasn't going to cut it. Admittedly I should have played with it more but I just didn't feel right in there.

Now the 350... I fit well but couldnt give up the AWD option. That power steering column made a world of difference for me.

**Edit-surprised on your findings as well...definitely believe them but woudn't have guessed.

I can see that someone who was a bit longer in the legs than the torso might have a problem. I don't even have the wheel adjusted all the way up and I still have plenty of room.

Ah the IS250 the poor mans G35 LOL

seriously though why buy and IS250? for the same money you could have bought a G35 sedan which is faster?

Oh well. Have "fun" on the Lexus forums. They do not like to talk about racing and the mods delete and move your posts. At least they did when I went looking to find a IS350 to race.

Well... I had the G for a couple of years, and enjoyed it immensely, but there were a couple of (common) issues that made me want to change. The gas prices and the bad mileage, along with the rapid brake wear, and the biggest reason was the consumption of tires. The IS has sticky compound tires too, but at least I'll be using ALL of the tread, and not just the inside edges.

At a grand per set, it's kinda tough to realize that I was only gonna get maybe 16 or 18k out of them... even tougher to toss away a set of tires on which the outside edge looks near new, and you see cords on the inside.

As to my choice of the IS, it was between that and the G back in '06, and I have always liked them. To top it off... I researched Consumer Reports, and nearly EVERY model of Lexus had the highest marks for almost every year in the report. I've always known Toyotas to be rock solid. It seemed a simple choice.
