Alright, my buddy and i sat down today and just started wiring my **** together. so far so good. just a few questions now. and here is where i got my wiring info from HeavyThrottle's Write Up.

for the DSM Resistor wiring, can the power for the Resistor go to the ECU Back Up power wire (red)?

when i was wiring i came across 2 THICK Blue/Red wires which i then connected to the THICK Red/Black wire, the brown wire for the O2 is also wired in there. I also came across the Plug from the KA harness having TWO THICK Red/Black wire, so i wired the second Red/Black wire to the THICK Red/Black wire on the CA harness..still with me? lol

I have a Q45 Ignitor to use with my CA swap. Can anybody help me out with the wiring of this? Im not quite sure what wires connect to what. I have an idea and have read the FSM's but still am unsure. i know the wire colors for the CA but i just dont know if they are showing up at the right spot in the harness. If anybody has done this please help?

Thanks for your help guys/gals. i should be driving this by the end of the week with your help!

The DSM resistor should wire up where the stock one is located at. There is a wiring guide in the stickies. DON'T use the ecu backup as it has power at all times and that will be hard on the ECU/injectors/resistor pack.

I'm confused about your second paragraph. There should be a big black/red, blue/red, and small brown on the CA harness that connect to the big black/red on the KA plug.

I'm no help on the Q45 ignitor. I thought those were plug-n-play?

my wiring harness came pretty "Hacked". it didn't have the Resistor or ignitor wired into it so im just going by wire colors and diagrams. so idk where the stock location is or what the wire really looks like, all i know is that its 'Red'.

and yea, i found TWO THICK Blue with Red Stipe wires on the CA harness. i just wired both of them to the thick Black/Red wire and the O2 on the KA Plug. but i just dont want to Fry my ECU ya know?

i'll post pics here in just a few. its pretty confusing lol

i dont believe so? everything else has gone together just like in the write-ups. its just i found the other Blue with Red stripe wire which i was like "wtf?"

thats really the only thing im wondering about. That and what wire i could hook the power wire for the DSM resistor too. and i think i can figure out the ignitor. when looking at the wiring diagrams..i just can't tell which wire goes in which plug terminal?

^^two blue with red stripe connected to Brown wire and KA Black/red wire ^^i think this is where i am supposed to connect one part of the Ignitor too..its by where the ECU "Y's" off from in the engine bay^^wires for the Resistor..dont kow where the red wire is..^^the mess of wires that i got stuff with when i got it.. lol

I did some searching and reading..and found this. The Thick Blue/Red Stripe wire i think goes to the Ignition Coil Relay. so i believe connecting both can't hurt, because it seems the other is deleted using a check connector anyways?

i did find for the dropping resistor, that the "RED WIRE" that was stated in the write-up would be the ECU Pin Number 58. idk if anybody would like to add that to the DSM Resistor Write-up. but it does say 12v on the write-up, so would i just wire that directly to the same wire as the O2 sensor, since its also 12v Switched?

and as for the ignitor, i think i can figure it out, i just need to sleep on it, and then figure out how to read the wiring diagram in the fsm really good and just find the wires..it shouldn't be that bad, if i get it done and it works, i'll do a write-up for doing so for future hacked harness CA owners if thats alright.

and any help would still be appreciated. im not 100% on any of this, i just want to let you know what i found out, any clerification would be great. Thanks alot Float_6969 and anybody else who helps me!

heres a little more. Got up this morning and went out and I'm 95% positive that the TWO THICK Blue/Red wires and the Black/Red wire and O2 Sensor wire at correct. I also wired the dash plug 100% correct. I did conclude that the Knock Sensor is in the engine harness and am getting ready to wire this as well (using shielded wire from KA harness). I did figure out what wires go to the Ignitor on the Q45, so i will be doing a write-up on this as well (for users with hacked wiring harnesses). The ONLY thing im still confused on is the 12v wire for the Dropping Resistor. I would image the pin for the ECU is just supply power to the resistor correct. But i can't seem to find the wire, so can i just hook the DSM Resistor to ANY 12v switched like the O2 Sensor?

btw, the color wires in the stock 89-90 KA engine harness for the MAF are the same color as the CA18 MAF. I had to wire that as well.

can someone please help me? I've read the FSM but still am confused on JUST the DSM Resistor wiring? can i just connect the power for the Resistor to the same wires i used to power the O2 sensor, since its 12v switched? Thanks guys/gals.
