I definately appreciate you being nice. - And the few select others that didn't effectively call me an idiot. I assume since I don't have hicas then you'd suggest the GR2's for the rear also? I found a site that has them for $64+ shipping, I was going to end up paying $70 something for "new" OEMs from Advanced auto.

Oh.
if your on a tight budget and dont wanna buy coilovers the the gr2 are a good option. save the money from doing a transmission swap and invest in coil overs, or if your happy with gr2s and lowering springs then do a dohc ka swap

Another thumbs up for the GR2's. i changed out my totally blown originals a few months ago and am very happy with them. I got them from Advanced for about $50 apiece...

i say check on here to see if you can find some used ones for cheap because im taking it that this is your daily driver and project car at the same time and if so then you need to save as much as you can for when things break and for better quality parts.

imo its not worth it to swap from kae to kade unless you get one for stupid cheap and your sohc isnt in great shape. i loved my sohc s13 and never considered swapping it for a dohc ka

Exactly, thank you! Good to know at least 1 person can think on the same page as I am and not just be a d!ck about a simple f***ing question.

And thanks to all of you that actually answered my questions. Apparently people aren't allowed to post question on things they're curious about without getting smartass comments though.., but thanks- I'll be looking into it further. Ya know.. for one day when I have money- whenever that day may be, lol.

I'll keep in mind next time- not to ask dumb questions.. and SEARCH. Right. Sorry for being ignorant. (aww, there's no smiley that flicks people off.. DAMN.)
No problem-o. We all asked/still ask questions that we want serious answers to.

Otherwise- the single cam to dual cam swap isn't all that much to write home about. I did one back when I first joined the forum. Its in the articles somewhere. If your current engine is in good enough shape, run it until its dead. Those struts are another story though.

Have fun in Miami (not!). I lived there for two years, never again!

SullivanRacing06 - I'm definately gonna go for the GR2's and I've been checking into lowering springs, but I don't want anything too drastic... I don't want to scrape on everything. I was considering buying this mostly stock (vtec, rims, suspension were the only mods. Not ricey.) Del Sol, but after the test drive I went to pull back into the parking lot and couldn't stand the sound. >.< Poor baby. The guy I'm getting my SE rims from has the height I want- I just need to find out what he has. It looks like about a 1.5" drop, but I can't really tell.

I have some family near Gainsville- High Springs. I think it's about an hour away?

2ndnissan - The struts I'm on now are stock originals and it hurts when I hit a bump or pothole that I can't avoid. I checked Advanced for them and they're $72 bucks, I found them on kybshocksonline.com for $64 front and $40 rear.

gnvarnadore - I actually recently just got it back from my dad- his car started sounding like a lawn mower/helicopter and really wasn't worth fixing- besides it was a Buick Century.. so since I didn't have a job or anything I left him my 240 and he loves the hell out of it. He stomped a Civic Si into the ground, lol. Redneck daddy ditched his Chevy truck when gas went up and now he wants a Nissan! The daily driver I was using was using was my bf's (stock) '95 Civic, but transmission (when the clutch wasn't pushed) started making this nasty clunking noise.. so it has a new transmission waiting to be put in.. joy. Now I have 'the sexy' back and I refuse to put OEM s*** back in it- there's no point really IMO.

frapjap - I think my engines in pretty good shape, it's just a little dirty from my last oil change She runs strong except for (as usual- those higher RPMs mixing with that frickin' governor or whatever the hell it is that makes the car shut off ) My exhaust manifolds cover is cracked so it rattles sometimes, but thats only annoying and I get funny looks. *shrug*

God, no. I hate Miami. Mainly the idiots that drive down here- I though Ft Lauderdale had bad drivers and Orlando was full of stupid(yet polite!) drivers. I plan on moving to Orlando eventually- I'd rather deal with stupidity and ***hole cops instead of not only ***hole cops, but ***hole drivers. I want to be that crazy b**** from Miami.

No worries then. I wouldn't be in a hurry to replace the motor. At worst, buy another SOHC for 50-100 bucks and rebuild it at your leisure.

Your outlook on FL traffic is most certainly on target. Something to think about though- most of those awful drivers just have FL plates because its cheaper to insure a car there. Most of them are transplants from other parts of the country where a$$ driving is the daily norm (mainly New England). I grew up in Palm Bay- about 2 hours north of you. We were immune to bad drivers until the expansion. I dislike home more than I ever did before. Congrats for being able to put up with it.

Huh.. didn't think even an sohc would be that cheap.

Thank you, thank you. I assume you know the Krome ave stretch up to Miccosukee Casino/reservation. I drive that 5 days a week 4 trips a day because my bfs transmission is shot and he bartends there. I've noticed alot of people from Texas and Massachutsits that will FLY past me while I'm already doing 30 over the limit only to slam on their brakes when they get too close to the guy that was in front of me- but I end up doing that too (to people going the speed limit) wheres the cops when someones actually doing something stupid, huh? I got a $104 dollar ticket for having an out tail light when people were rolling the stop sign right next to me. Fxckin' micco. cops are d!ck. I do hate them. And I've been lost in Palm Beach quite a few times.. I have a terrible sense of direction and I'm in need of a GPS.

you shut your whore mouth, you're one of us now

florida drivers suck. yeah, i said it. i had the displeasure of driving down there (mainly orland/kissimmee). absolutely terrible. 99% of those people would die around here with our hills and aggressive driving manner.

SOHC's can be had on the cheap.

I'm well aware of that little road. A girl I went to school with was part of that tribe, lol. I used to drive her on occasion. Tell the guy to buy a Vespa and fit in for Christ's sake. I haven't heard "Micco" in forever! God, what a desolate waste of space and human consumption of air. Ugh. I never wish that hell upon anyone. Palm Beach isn't all to hard to figure out, but then again, I used to go there vs. Miami more often than not. I do, however, miss the Sunrise Flea Market. I REALLY miss it. So many awesome veggies, fruits, and sunglasses, lol! Not to mention the 50/50 faux/real car collection. I can't wait to go back in May!!! I have to buy another pair of s***ty aviators that I will be destined to lose on my cruise 1-4 hours into leaving port. I'm making it a tradition.

So is it that you live IN Miami? Do me a favor and visit a restaurant (not the area!) called Little Havana in North Miami near the Johnson & Wales campus. Get the Little Havana Steak. Mmmmmm, I'd fly into and out of that airport in a matter of hours for that restaurant...

numbnuts - If you hated the Orlando area shoot yourself if anyone ever tells you to go to Miami. Or just tell them to fck off- cause you're one of the cool people on this forum

frap - Lol.. Vespa. I hate those damn things. There are actually these people that ride scooters up/down Krome in RUSH HOUR. I mean, c'mon- WTF are they thinking? There's been so many time when I've just wanted to creep up behind them(but there's not much creeping to be done with my exhaust..) and go *BUMP* and send the dumbass off the road into a field. // end vent

And yeah, I love the Sunrise Flea Market- that place is great. I'm actually going up that way next week. Birthday time!! But not at the flea market. o.O That would be odd. I don't know if you've ever been WAAAY down US-1 to uh.. what's the mall called....... s***.. s***. Wow.. it's the last mall on US-1 before you start on the stretch down to the keys- they have like 6 different stores that sell cheap ($8) knock off sunglasses. Only wish I could remember the name on the mall, lol, sorry.

Technically I do not live in Miami, I live in Homestead (The Redlands) if you're more familiar with the area, but I'm I know my way around Miami a little bit. And I LOVE good food- so I'll give the place a try if it's still around. I'm assuming it's by the airport? And I'm pretty sure I might be able to handle even actual Little Havana.. I've never been there, but I bartended in OVERTOWN(more like undertown..) for a month.. outside at night, no less! I kept a stun gun in my bra- which wouldn't have done any good anyway because by the time whoevers close enough for me to taze 'em they're already practically in my face.

I believe the Vespa in rush hour thing. I used to work in South Beach. Tourists and residents alike ride them incessantly. About you wanting to hit them- I watched a guy get SOOOOOO mad in front of me because some people were splitting lanes/traffic on their scooters that he opened his door and the guy on the scooter went FLYING! unfortunately for him, a police officer on a bike witnessed it, lmao.

I'm familiar with Homestead. Are they rebuilding there yet (half joking, half not). When's your birthday? What are you gonna get there? Thats awesome that you're a chick who's cool with a badass flea market gift! If you haven't been to Sunrise in a while, its kinda downsized. The blanket/rentals outside in the parking lot are still abundant, but nearly ALL of the car audio aisles are vacant now. I've never been to Overtown. I know of a damn good CiCi's Pizza in Hileah(sp) though!

Good cal on keeping yourself safe with the stun gun. Do you still carry it? As for the restaurant, it isn't IN Little Havana, thats just the name. Its on Biscayne Blvd near 126th (Bal Harbour Bridge) in North Miami. MUUUUUUCH SAFER!!!!

Lmao, that hilarious and sucks so bad. With my luck that's what would happen to me. I do the door thing when dogs charge at my car. ^.^ Taught this one a good lesson- she doesn't chase me anymore, she just stares at me now.

Oh, yeah- they sure are rebuilding Homestead.. theres a few new apartment complexes going up! But really, not so much fixed the f***ed up, but building new. Let's see... we have a Outback Steakhouse and an Olive Garden in the works. We have a Best Buy that opened in December.. all down on US-1 by the mall- which by the way is the "Prime Outlets"/"Florida Outlet Mall". My birthday's on the 10th- I'll be turning 21 (finally!). And I haven't been there in a while, and didn't know that most of the car audio was gone- that's what I was going for. My poor speakers are stock, 2 are blown and one is going- only my passanger-side door speaker works. I'll see what else I can find there though. In Overtown around dusk in when hundred of people start laying out blankets, pillows and sometimes couch cushions on the sidewalks and stuff to sleep on- gunshots every night, prostitutes dancing to the music the event/bar I was working was playing... it's not a nice place at all.

I do still carry the stun gun when I go to shadier places. I want to get a concealed weapons permit soon, but I've heard it's harder these days for some reason. I'll give the place a try next time I go up that way- is it Cuban food??

Oh yes, most certainly Cuban food. Superb Cuban food. Tap Tap on the very end of South Beach is also amazing. Little hole in the wall, but god damn its excellent and they make the best Mojitos that you can ever experience! Speaking of, any big birthday plans?

Sucks that you have next to no working speakers. Are you able to install your own? If so, go to Newegg.com and I'll guide you through your choices as to whats the best quality for your budget.

I'm glad I've never had to go to Overtown. I was in THE ghetto in Miami once by accident- never EVER again! Place looked like a war zone that was never repaired. Still, I'm sorry you had to carry on through that stuff. At least you have a new found appreciation for life, lol.
