My cousin constantly wants to RACE my A/C 3.5 Manual trans.

He has the 2002 Pontiac grandprix gtp supercharged Automatic transmission/4 door. According to intellichoice car review.com it puts out 240hp

The only mod i have is the Kumo ESTCA SPT tires and artisan performance exhaust. Thats it! Besides his factory supercharger he has no other mods.

What do you guys think, Do i stand a chance if i decided to cave and race???

I didn't check the car out, but you have 270hp and I believe your car is lighter, so I say you win

There is no m/t in the GP, no need for it. The ECU was smart enough back in 97-03 to make the m/t obsolete on that particular car.

I own a Grand Prix GT (no SC). I can take my girl off the line with only 200 HP. As soon as I have to shift, she gets ahead in her 3.5 CVT

... you would lose against him

The Grand Prix supercharged can do a 6.9 0-60....our 3.5 A/C can do a 5.8.

If you can shift somewhat decent you'll win by at least a second.

that is a definate no!!!! the CVT does funcky things off the line sometimes, but in a 1/4 mile, it would own a GT and a GTP... GTO is a whole nother story, but no way does a GTP take a 3.5 A/C!

I think you'll have no problem taking him. This isn't a GTO that's built up so you should be good

You know... If you did race him, his engine might blow up if he didn't respond to the recall. Hehehe...
Wikipedia wrote:In March 2008, GM announced a plan to recall all 1997-2003 Grand Prix models with the supercharged 3.8 liter engine (GTP and GTX models) due to a problem which causes fires in the engine compartments of these vehicles. Over 230 fires were reported. This recall will affect over 200,000 vehicles. GM sent a letter to owners of these vehicles on March 13, 2008, instructing owners of these vehicles not to park in garages or carports until the problem is resolved.
