^ It won't be a safeless, but a Crushco rather. lol.

In case anyone missed it, I had the privilege of being featured in the January 2011 issue of Modified magazine with none other than the man, the myth, the legend- Toby Broadfield!

Image

Run out and grab a copy if you can swing it! Modified has an extremely small staff of great guys that work their butts off every month to put this magazine out- my hats off to them! I will post some photos and the full story later this week, as well as what's in store for winter 2010-11!

I picked up a copy of this right when I saw the two cars on the front. Your car looks amazing! As well as Broadfield's. Congrats to you both!

Thanks guys!

So I managed to sell my K-Sport coilovers, get them off of the car and boxed up, and purchase some D-Max coils over the weekend! Pretty excited. I will probably go lower next spring if I drop to a 215/40 up front, but I don't really feel like buying tires again- aside from the rears that are smoked. We'll see. As soon as it gets a little bit warmer later this week, I'll probably install the Tomei short shifter.

Car is officially on stands and in for the season. We got 6" of snow this weekend, and the wind chill was -8 degrees F. Not very fun 240 weather...

Thanks man! I'll probably try to get out there if I am in town and free that weekend. I think I missed it last year because my car was still torn apart...

This is pretty true at this point, lol. My car seems to get more response over there, so that's where I usually end up.

Let's see if I can get this up to speed from where I left off:

- The D-Max coilovers showed up and I tossed them on the car.
- I also purchased and installed a Cusco FSTB.
- The interior is currently pulled (aside from the dash/carpet) while I wait for the Cusco cage to arrive, which should be here any day now.
- I sold my B&M shifter in favor of a discontinued Tomei unit.
- My brother got me some Bride tuning pads for my seat for Christmas.
- I have sold my Work CR Kai wheels, tires, and Work lugs to a friend.
- I bought some Yokohama S Drives for the new wheels- 215/40/17 & 225/40/18.
- New wheels, lugs, and center caps are on order and will arrive in late March.
- I have started collecting parts to replace my front suspension.

I took the car out about a week ago now and drove it around the block- I was getting a little antsy for spring. This was just a few days before we got about 12" from the big storm:

I just got word this morning that my cage is in port awaiting customs clearance and should hopefully be here next week. :)

What wheels did you get? Definitely stick around and update this... for some of us, these kind of builds are very inspirational.

haha, thanks for the comments guys. Not a ton has happened since my last update- here is the jist of it:

The front suspension was completely redone with Energy Suspension bushings for the sway bar and lower control arms, OEM end links, NISMO power brace, Tein tie rods & ends, SPC tension rods, and Megan Racing roll center adjusters:

New Defi Advance CR gauges replaced the old AEM units, thanks to a partial sponsorship from Philip at Tein USA. I love the look of the new gauges!

Image

Image

I had some cleaner front fenders painted, as well as new headlight covers/shrouds, the front bumper, and the front lip. The car looks a lot better now:

I installed a new Bride Zeta III that I got from Eric at Driveline Motoring to match the rest of the interior. The Cusco 6 point cage has also been installed, and the interior is just about complete. All that's left to wrap up is the rear plastics.

I drove the car to work all week- pretty nice to have it on the road again and to see the weather getting better! My TE37s should be here in about a week, so I will remember to update this when they arrive and I have a chance to shoot some new pics.

The TE37s are gonna look fantastic! Can't wait!

Fyi, the Megan balljoints don't correct roll center much, if at all.
The shank length isn't long enough, and raising it up or down won't do anything for roll center.
Since roll center is calculated by the pivoting points on the suspension, the balljoint's pivoting point needs to be lower, and right now your balljoint pivot point look to be about 1 inch higher than the arm, which is where your arm probably was in the first place with stock balljoints.

Yeah, thanks for the info- i was aware of that going in, and usually wouldn't cheap out on stuff like that, but I didn't want to drop almost $400 for Nagisa or Moonface ones for a street car. I figured a product that claims to adjust it would probably be better than OE Moog replacements or something that I know for a fact will not adjust it. For a street car, though, I figured it wasn't too big of a deal.

Yeah, worst case scenario, it'll act as stock replacements, which isn't too bad! :)

Video of the car cruising, nothing too exciting:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_sctI1k ... e=youtu.be

My wife and I took the car down to Import Alliance back in July and put over 1800 miles on it without issue. Awesome event if you have not had the chance to check it out in the past- I'll be back for sure! The only issue is the lack of air conditioning in the car- I have sourced all of the necessary components for A/C and will be installing them on the car this winter.

After a long standing grind, I finally lost 5th gear in the car last week. I sourced a replacement SR20 transmssion from a friend and completed installation last night, so it's ready to go for WekFest Chicago on Saturday! If you're in the area or attending the show, be sure to stop by and say what's up!

On the way home I will be picking up a S15 diff in a S13 pumpkin. I got a good deal from a friend and decided it would be more fitting for what I do with the car than the Tomei 2 way I am currently using. I love the diff I have now, but it's more than I need on the street. Thanks for reading!
