I have a 95 Q45 with 159k on it. My left front window was not going up. I took it to dealership and they said it needs a new window regulator. They charged me $105 for finding the problem. Now they want another $405 to fix it. I checked the price on infinitipartsusa.com and its listed for $96. Is this something I can have done by some other shop or can I do it myself (I have never worked on a car).Regards,Wasim.

I did mine, and I'm an idiot. Check out this link from when I did it.

This is very "DIY-able" if you have the inclination and basic mechanical skills. $405 to replace... what is their labor rate? I can't imagine book time could be over 2 hours to replace... and that's taking a couple of smoke breaks inbetween!

my drivers side windo went out also. i took it a part and installed the new one my self, much cheaper. if you know anything about turning a wrench or screw driver you should be able to figure it out. i wish you luck and let us know how it goes.

I have replaced dozens of window regulators and all the asian vehicles I have done rarely take more than 1 hour for me, 2 hours if you haven't done it but know your way around a wrench I would guess. Make sure to block the glass up after you disconnect it from the regulator so it doesn't fall. I usually stick a screwdriver through a hole up high in the door behind where the door panel is just under the window so the window sits on it. you can tape it up too but I don't like to get tape glue on the paint. Guess you could put something between the tape and the paint so it was only sticking to the glass.

Long story short....you CAN DIY. Is your time worth $150 an hour?

American cars are the ones that I don't like doing, especially the older cars. They used to always rivet the regulators and motors in so you had to drill them out.

Slow = lack of 90 day channel lube [binding], slow + grinding and popping = regulator..................off course the motor's commutaor get worn and corroded.........clean/sand or replace.

If owners abuse the regulator long enough it will fail.Silicone spray and Wurth should be on everyone shopping list FREQUENTLY!

Yea Dennis, I read another tread that you were talking about this Wurth stuff. It must be good. I have the problem with the rubber on the driver's door, by the mirror where the glass slides on the rubber. Is that where you use the Wurth? I use Silicone spray there, but it doesn't last long. I get the squeaks back soon. Does the Wurth work better than the silicone spray?

The track has some adjustability to it. If the lower part is too wide it will "flop" around. Are you sure you didn't forget some bolts or to remount something. How about and missing tools from you tool box? hehe

Major Question, Will my 93Q Passenger Front window regulator fit on the 95Q? if so ill take the 93 off and insert it in the 95. Next... i know the window was werking perfectly fine in my 93 with no probs. Should i just replace the regulator? Or would it be easier to just snatch the motor out wit it.. Someone said that the regulator is tied to the motor. So thats why i ask. Otherwise if its easier to just replace the regulator alone.. ill do that instead polly tomorro.

I can't say if they are the same or not, I would assume they are. Regulator is what goes out most of the time as they have plastic/nylon pullies and wear out and the cables get tangled up. It is easy to pull the motor off the regulator so you you aren't sure about your old motor just change it to the one you know is good. Whole job is pretty simple, just take your time.

Not an answer, but 1995 window is thicker and heavier. Dealer shoudl be able to tell you if part numbers are the same.

wooooohoooo... im 1% smarter today.I changed out the motor and regualtor today.. I just pulled the whole thing out of my 93 and inserted it into the 95. The job was easy.. it just took me about 30mins to figure out how to put it in.. I forgot how i took it out. I find myself trying to gigure out if i screw it in here or there.. Well.. when i figured that out. It was all easy till i put everything together and heard a "clack" sound like something was hitting my glass and getting ready to break.. So had to take all that junk apart all over again and found out.. i forgot one screw andthe motor would hit the glass.. so got that screwed in and put everything back together and everything is A-OK.. This job take mayber 30-45mins if u know what you doing and mayver 2hrs if you dont know. I feel much better. I spent 4hrs doing mine. Which is fine.... better than paying 175$ like the mech told me. And im 1% smarter.
