Guys,

Finally got my q going and it looks great. I'm looking to do some mods, so I need to know where to get a nico ECM and how long it takes to install. Also what is the exhaust size if anyone knows what muffler inlet I need to get a set of replacements.

Other mods I'm doing is a Trans go shift kit and possibly a billet converter.

For the NICO ECU, contact Wes at Q45.org. The ECU sits behind the (US) passenger side floor kick panel. Be sure to pull the carpet tag back and look under for a 10mm or 12mm nut that holds the kick panel to the floor in addition to a clip. Remember to disconnect the battery before changing the ECU. The job can be accomplished in 30 minutes or less.

Thanks, his website only shows 90-93 ECMs. I have to check with him I guess.

Anyone on the exhaust tubing size?

Also on a torque converter, is it worth it on a stock motor? And what stall is optimal when I'm looking for better performance and better mpg

There's the most up to date info on the ECU's. Read that up and let me know if you have any questions.

Regarding the exhaust tubing, I think 2.25" would be good, personally I'm more of a fan of merging it back to a single 3" or something like that.. Honestly, there's no gains to be had by doing an exhaust with any N/A mods compared to the stock exhaust, so the only reason to do it is for the sound. If your stock exhaust is still good, just cut the mufflers out and keep that tubing...

I think the billet torque converters are definitely worth it. About a 2800 stall would be good, because remember the more HP the engine puts out the higher your stall RPM is going to be. You won't get any better MPG with the stall converter, but your off the line performance will be quite a bit better. For G50s, I prefer the high stall TC over 4.08 diff.

Thanks Wes,

So 350 for me to get an ECM since you don't accept 94 cores.

Also if I do a stage 3 tune am I going to need a converter? I don't know how much a Trans go kit will firm up shifts on these. In my diesel a full built Trans was necessary due to torque. This is my concern but this is my first gas vehicle. I typically assume a tighter coupling converter with a lower stall will get power to the ground better and faster than stock. Just not sure if its worth it on a stock gas motor in this g50

You won't need a converter for stage 3. It adds about 40HP and works fine with an otherwise stock transmission.. It's not like on diesel's where you're adding 100-200HP with a tune like that.

The converter is a nice upgrade, I'm not sure though like you if it's worth it.. The ECU is the best bang for the buck, the shift kit will be nice to firm the shifts up a little bit.. That may be enough for you!
