ok everyone ive spent the last 3 weeks looking thru threads going thru my FSM for my problem. my problem is that my HICAS light comes on when i drive long distances at a constant speed around 60 to 75 mph. the things ive done to the car are new injectors an O rings, new knock sensors an harness, new fuel pump, spark plugs(NGK iridiums), tranny flush, tokico shocks, struts an drilled an slotted rotors. during the winter my alternator pulley froze an broke the alternator belt an the HICAS light came on then but as i stated earlier in this paragraph it now only comes on when driving long distances. BTW the car is a '94 Q45 with 177k miles an runs perfect, would love some input on this or am i just overreacting? :werd:

I don't really have any HICAS experience. Is there a self-test mode that will let you get codes from it's control module?

Have you checked the power steering reservoir? If the power steering fluid is low, spirited steering will set off the HICAS light or a reservoir that is 3/4 empty.

The HICAS self test for the J30t is here:

j30-do-it-yourself-work-t256492-40.html

I'm assuming that HICAS is HICAS regardless if its a J30t or Q45. I could be wrong.

FYI if the wires on the top of the power steering bottle are frayed or damaged, they can also trigger the HICAS light.
