I posted this pic in the "Quella Tunes" thread, but thought I'd start a new one, even if the pic doesn't deserve it. It's a late 90's Pathfinder Bose CD player, that should control the pre-wired CD changer in the trunk.

AKA The "JDM Tyte Pathy swap" :D

Rex...thanks for the pic. Did you add any black trim pieces to on the sides of the unit to cover the gaps as I recall that you said it did not fit exactly perfect and that you could see a small thin gap along the trim.

Nope, haven't done anything since the install, my plan is to try to slightly round the pointed corners and see if I can get it to "sit" just the slightest bit lower.

Rex,

That's a sexy install. I wonder if the newer Q 6 disc in dash changer (y33) would fit in as well.

FY33 did not have a 6 CD in dash unit. Only single player in dash with optionoal remotely located (usually in trunk) 6 CD changer.

Thanks, I'm very pleased :D

My guess would any "standard" double DIN Bose unit should fit. I did have my eye on a 6 disc In Dash at one time, but got sniped :(. The only thing I'm not sure is if I coule get the correct adapter for that unit.

Rex,

What was the unit you found out off? I thought the Y33 had one, but it appears not...

The unit I used was from a 99 or so Pathfinder, and the 6 disc in dash I was looking at was from a Pathfinder as well.

My ebay search was something along the lines of:

(Nissan, Infiniti, J30, Q45, I30, QX4, G20, Pathfinder, Maxima) Bose CD

The key is the adapter, I listed in another thread and have in my Member's Rides pics.

Listen, I have a 1992 q45 and I recently bought a 2002 qx4 6 disk head unit. I will love to install it in my car. I have seen a few guys done, but i not not in contact with these guys anymore. Could you let me know what I need to do in order to install this qx4 radio?

You need to get an adaptor. I'm not sure on part number or anything like that...

You should be able to get it from a local audio shop, no problem.

That's a nice upgrade. I was interested to see how the 6 disc in dash changer would end up

Post some pics!

I never use CDs anymore. I download/rip into iTunes, then drop the MP3s on to my Digisette, and play MP3s in the cassette. It even lets me skip to the next or previous track and seek, and does voice recording on top of that.

Plus, I really like the motorized flip cover on my factory head unit.

So what I'd love to do is add the tweeters from the 94. Is the a-pillar entirely different or are the tweeters just attached?

Thanks,-Jesda

Interesting question

I love the tweeter design in the 94+

I will be going completely custom, but would like to use the tweeter design from the 94+ anyway..

Some of the best looking tweeters I've seen in a car.

I was never able to track down the actual Nissan part #, but here's the seller who has them on ebay regularly.

Here's the one I got from him in Feb.

(For future reference, if these links die of old age, I have a pic of the adapter in my gallery)

I'd like to see this one "installed". It's not a standard Double DIN face, so I'd like to see how it turned out.

That looks exactly like the cable I used, nice find.

I also would like to know how to install one of those. I had emailed an ebay seller to get the length & width on the exact same unit and it was trapeziodal shapped....wider at the top versus the bottom and I think that the top was too wide, but I could be wrong. I would really like to upgrade to an indash 6 cd player if I could find one that would work.

I know there's a Bose 6 disc in dash, that's standard Double DIN. I missed out on it a few days before I got the one I have. I'll see if I can figure it out, I think it was a late 99 Pathfinder.

You are right. I did the install, then I realize I wasn't able close the dash trim back to the way it was. So I took the car to a audio shop and they did a pretty good job of concealing it. But I'll tell you one thing its worth it.
