Interesting Thread Guys,

Rex, that CD player out of the pathfinder is one button away from exactly what I have in my 98 QX4. I have it controlling an Infiniti/Nissan 6 CD Changer.

I was thinking of searching for a CD Changer to fit my OEM 94 radio, but now you guys have me thinking about changing all together in my 94 Q. On the other hand, I do like the "push button flippy thing" that covers the base, treble, etc...

Luckily I do have the tweeters in the A pillars. I was looking at those on the way home today thinking, "Dang those look cool."

Keep the thread going and hopefully we can have a reference of what radios fit in a 94 Q and what had to be done for installation. Oh and keep the pics coming!

Hey Jesda, how's that digisette work? I love gadgets and stuff. I realize that some audio quality may be reduced using this method, but it's still cool. How do you like it?

Also, I notice your subtle note that you're trying to raise funds for repairs. I'll donate $10 if you throw in a digisette.

By "digisette" do you mean a cassette adapter for playing a digital device?

I was using one for my Sony Mini-Disc player (love those things), but got "tired" of the cable hanging out of the cassette slot :(.

However, i wont be doing this mod becuase I like having the push button flippy thing.....

I thought I was the only one who was so enamored with this little detail. I remember the first time I sat in a Q. For some dumb reason it really made a big impression on me.

Its a rough decision. Either 5 mins to change the CDs in the CD changer or HOURS of entertainment!!!!!! :D

I think the correct answer is obvious.

Heh.

When I first sat in a Q I was probably like.... 15 or 16.. Man I loved that flip open/close bose head unit.. I was drooling.. nobody had anything remotely that pimp out in the day..

The clockthe flip thing

I love it..

Remember the Q came out in 90 and was designed in the 80s..

Go find another car with such a curvacious an unboring car that came out in 90 or anytime around then.. Look at the BMWs and the BENZ's they are all squared and boring.. Reviewers called the Q45 interior all business, well look at the details to appreciate..

The german interiors were square and boring/bland.

The Q had that wonderfull curvy dash, and the wonderfully sculpted door panels.. Ah come on infiniti make the Q your flagship and put the effort you did into designing the G50..

Don't let the Q name die!

I wont buy another Infiniti if the Q name goes down... It will make me cry!!!

Ive driven quite a few cars, and seen and read about even more. It all comes down to the G50 as the top of the line, 94/95

From a 1994 review, by richard truett. Available on cars.com

"Thanks to its face lift, the new Q45 goes where no other Japanese luxury car has been. It has styling that is classy, elegant and original. In 1994 the Infiniti Q45 ranks as one of the world's finest luxury cars."

"Truett's tip: Thanks to a major face lift and an improved interior, the new Q45 can now be considered one of the world's best luxury cars."

Dug this thread back up as I'm getting ready to put the "extra" Bose HU I got onto ebay and cam across this 6 Disc In Dash that I think should work the same. Would need to see the back of the unit to know for sure. (Requires inexpensive NISSAN adapter)

BTW, I'm going to offer an older single CD unit like mine (slightly different display) on ebay or here if any one is interested. I also have my original non-CD & a 90-93 Sony 10 disc if anyone is interested.

Hey guys,Some guy on ebay is selling these 6disk changershttp://cgi.ebay.com/ws/ebayISA...12995for $135.00.What do you think? They are not made by Clarion. and he sounded very stressed out when I called him asking him questions. At one point he told me “I don’t want to sell you this”!!! Weird. Think the guy is from a middle eastern country.

Rex,Is your 10 disk Sony in good working condition? Mine works most of the time (well...60% of the time). The rest of the time is "cd err".

AFAIK. It came out of a running 91 Q that had a tree fall on it. It won't work (or I wasn't able to make any adapters to get it to work) in my 94. The 90-93 use a seperate controller that's mounted in the console near the armrest.

Sorry :( sometimes we just figure everyone knows all the net sayings.

AFAIK = As Far As I Know

And you're right the 94 and up use the Bose HU to control the trunk mounted changer. That's why I never installed (after trying to figure out a way) the 90-93 model Sony 10 disc changer in my 94.

There is supposed to be a Clarion model that will work, but I'm not sure which years :(.

The digisette is an mp3 player that you can pop into any cassette player for mp3 playback. No wires, no cables. And you can skip through tracks and fast forward like a CD. You can also plug in headphones and use it as a standalone mp3 playback device.

Its also a voice recorder, and if you put it in a tape recorder, it will digitally record to mp3. I paid $150 at radio shack. I think they go for $40 on eBay now.

On long trips in the Q, my wife brings her I-pod and we use a cassette adapter. It sounds great. It even sounds better than in her 330i with the Harmen Karden and a direct, line in connection.

Where's the link to that reafirmation? Did it provide any sneak preview to the would-be latest and greatest flagship?

I've installed the 6-Disc in-dash CD Changer unit into my '91 for a couple of years now, and haven't touched the 10-Disc changer in the trunk since. It's a great convenience to not walk back to the trunk every now and then to change CDs...check out the link of how it looks.
