Hi, i am new to this forum. I have rad with great interst some of the other posts, especially concerning rough idle (changing a fuel injector fixed that!), and timing caing guide replacement (gotta check to see if i need to do that). But i ahve a few problems...

1. The car was bought as a totaled vehicle from a insurance auto auction. It had a crumpled hood, left front fdender, and let front headlight. also, it only came with a valet key. i can get into the trunk with the button in the car, but ot would be great if i could get a "real" key. anyone know how i could go about getting one? i tried calling an infiniti dealer here in prtland, orego, and they said that i they could not help me (which seems weird).

2. i also have trouble with a display from the climate system that does not work. is jerry tucker in san diego still the best option?

3. the Q came with a stock bose tape/radio. i want to put ina cd player, and wanted to keep the bose speakers, so i thought i would get a cd player outta a more recent inifniti. cue ebay: i got a 6 disc in dash 6 changer out of a I35. unfortuntely, the plug pattdern in the back is different. is there an adapter for this to make ot work? also, i have a 91Q for parts that had the stock bose, and a clarion changer in the back. are the changers hardwired to the headunit (good), or is it FM modulation (bad)?stock unit: PN-9486Q New unit: PN-2451D

thanksraj

Hi and welcome to NICO.

1. I would think that if you provided the dealer with the VIN, they should be able to get you a key, but it won't be cheap. If that delaer won't help you, try another. It's only a phone call away.

2. Regarding the climate control system, Jerry is a sound option or you can flip the dice and buy a used one and try your luck.

3. There is an adapter to use a newer unit. Here is a link to give you an idea:http://www.courtesyparts.com/M...DIO-H

My car is a 1991 and came with the factory SONY 10 disc changer. The previous owner replaced it with another unit which happens to be a SONY that uses the FM modulator. I'm not certain, but I've been under the impression that the factory units only came with SONY, so maybe the Clarion is aftermarket. The factory head unit is made by Clarion.
