I don't quite know what's going on with my car. All was well yesturday and then today, all the sudden, the clutch peddle keeps sticking to the floor and sometimes doesn't let me go into gear or come out of gear. It just happened out of nowhere. I pushed the peddle to the floor and the pressure felt weak but it went into gear that time just fine. But then, The peddle just stayed stuck to the floor. And then, when I tried to pull it out of gear, it wouldn't let me.

The clutch itself is fine, there's no way in hell it's going out cause I never race it or anything like that. Plus, my revs don't go up as if it's slipping when I give it gas in gear. It has to be something with the pressure or peddle or hell, I don't flippin know.

Help!?

LOL. Also replace pedal and pedal pad. Also shifter and shift knob. Just start throwing parts at it.

Cool. I'll try the slave cylinder.

It still goes into gear but I have the pump the clutch a **** load and then use my foot to bring it back off the floor.

We'll see if that helps any.

So why does this seem like a common problem with the 240s? Yeah it is the Slave cylinder. I am experiencing the same problem. So the other forum that someone suggested replacing the Master cylinder along with the Slave cylinder because not replacing the Master cylinder will just ruin the Slave???? Does anyone know anything about it?

The hell with it. It is only $20. While you are there you may as well replace the crap.

cuz nissans trannies area little on teh weak side. the nx will have 5th gear completely die (its a definite that it'll die and i've experienced it) the SE-R sentras have transmission problems w/ 5th iirc and 240s have weak clave cylinders and 2nd gear grind

Dude, I am glad you brought that up. The 2nd gear grind...What are we to do about that? Rebuild the transmission?

its cheaper to just find one that doesnt grind, thats what im doing. my first 240's transmission was perfect, no grinds at all, this current one grinds 2nd, 5th and sometimes 3rd if it wasnt to piss me off

Slave cylinder failures are common on any car with hydraulic clutch after that many years/cycles. Master cylinder failures are a less common, but they wear out, too.

As for "grinds", that means your synchronizer(s) are worn out. This happens from people abusing any manual transmission (e.g.- powershifts). The synchros are the first thing to wear out in any manual transmission, regardless of manufacturer. You can do as White Comet suggested and find a used one and hope it's not been abused, but the problem is it could fail 3 months later. The more expensive choice is to have yours rebuilt and know it'll be good as new. Depends on your budget and plans for the car.

not entirely true, it is most commonly the synchros but depending on how/ when it grinds it could be the gears themselves of teh fork as well
