I realize he is doing it, but I was saying (or rather meant in my head) if he pulls it off sucessfully and can figure out a way for other owners to do it cheaply, then he will be the hero!!!

:D

Car is still out of commission (since December 12). It'll go in for fitting as soon as I retrieve it.

How many interested parties do we have?

Are we talking a complete stainless setup from the catalysts back here? More details please.

Correct - Where have you been?

Stainless, mandrel-bent setup with X-pipe, free-flow pre-muffs terminating in a dual-in, dual-out Ultraflow... All MIG-welding, factory mounting points, and free-flow cats as an extra-cost option.

Also gonna be available in aluminized.

If it hooks up to the factory catalysts and the stock muffler, I might be a customer soon.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

I will be a customer when this gets done. I would also want the free-flowing cats. Can you give us a rough estimate on cost?

Nick :)

It will hook up the the factory cats but will REPLACE the stock rearmost muffler (for a weight savings of 45 lbs.). We'll be using a free-flow design (dual in, dual out) recommended by Dennis that will maintain factory appearance and a quiet everyday sound but will allow some of the beast to emerge under WOT.

I kinda like the beast that emerges from the stock muffler at WOT.

Louder is not necessarily better. And the stock unit flows freely now. So I will listen for the wav files.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

Im getting in here a little late on all the turbo comments...But...A pair of GT28RS AKA Disco Potato turbos would be insane! Ive got one on my Sentra SE-R....The boost is so smooth and linear its like a stuck a giant engine in place of the 2.0. Just my two pennies:)

Hello Vince (HeavyDuty=Jason Duty) :D I agree with the T28 base, too. In a low boost app, they'd be perfect, providing JWT would be willing to do a boost program.

AZ, What point are you at in the development? I may be able to lend a hand, if needed, for test fitment, or production, if your current outsource production isn't a marriage with BRM.

Rex is here, but you are doing BRM there?

I have access to a mandrel bending machine to produce 2"-5" sections or full systems. All I would need is one to test fit & it would be easy to reproduce on the computer. I stopped thinking about reinventing the wheel after seeing your post a while back. I may still do one for myself, I don't know, I'm eager to see what you came up with though.

WOW! 45lbs weight saving on the rear muffler! :freak

Do you have any pics of what you've been running on yours?

We're moving the shop this weekend & I found a couple of ComptechUSA resonators behind a shelf, I was tempted to install them in place of the two mufflers on my car just for kicks.

HD - As soon as my car (the test mule) returns from major top-end surgery, it's going over to my shop for R&D. We have the system pretty well laid out, it's ust a matter of bolting it up and building a jig for all the subsequent systems (I'm amazed at the response I've gotten on this project).

To clear up the BRM question, Rex started the company and is the owner. He has placed me in charge of running day-to-day operations and securing new product / new accounts.

I have a manufacturing facility in FL and another in AZ, and each has it's own specialty. Both have state-of-the-art mandrel tubing benders, MIG and TIG welding capabilities and are staffed with guys who treat their craft as a work of art - something that's very important to us.

Those resonators sound interesting... Might be interesting to try those in line (as you stated) prior to the rear silencer.

No such luck, big fella. She's still the sweetest Q this side of the Mississippi, and she's still alive.

Hell, she may even be "new and improved" by the time I finish the "long" post.

Stay tuned.

This thread is one tangent after another.....:pface

AZ, is Dave your Fla guy?

If not, I need to post some pics of his reproduction of our Bluebird/GTI-R<>B13, B14, P10, P11 SR20DET swap downpipe for consideration. I'm not looking to be a manufacturer, just trying to lend a hand, hell, I can't even keep up with my day to day stuff.

HD - No, not Dave.

However, i'd like to get hold of that swap downpipe... Wonder what i can get one for?

Alternatively, hook me up with him and BRM can move a buttload of them for him.

AZ, show me yours & I'll show you mine. :pface

I have one at the shop I can send you for a test fit, but it's already been verified on a B14 with stock mounts (JWT inserts), clears the pan, but is still higher than the crossmember, clears the sway bar, bolts to the stock cat, has a beefy integrated flex joint, mandrel bent aluminized, ceramic aluminized, or stainless available, full 3" from turbine outlet to where it has to swedge down slightly to mate with the cat.

I'd be happy to hook you up with him, I only wanted it jigged so I didn't have to reinvent the wheel for every swap, or wait *months* for one when I needed it, so I made a mock up using his mandrel bent pieces.

I'm having him jig my Bluebird and Avenir B13, B14, P10 & P11 intake & intercooler piping as well. For those you'll have to go through me. :D

VINCE!

How the heck are ya! The Classic belongs to one of my employees now. He also just bought a 60k mile 97 S14 SE from me & is trying to get me to put my RB26 in it. It's too nice of a car for a swap, maybe in a couple of years.

The biz is good, we're moving into a new building this weekend, 4 years in the current location, 3 in the one before that. We're doing more power adder stuff than anything these days, and most of that custom. Still a struggle, but looking forward to 2004 being the best yet.

How about FTF? I see your Intake GD, how come nothing for us lowly 1st gen Q Captains? Dunno about you, but I recently bought my Q for upcoming "weekend visits" in what appears to be an impending big "D". Did everything turn out OK with you?
