89 5.0 into s13 anyone done it? which oil pan?

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

my 240sx s13 has a 5.0 carb engine. it has a custom oil pan and the oil pump is in front .. u need maybe to mod the stabilizer bar or maybe place the engine too back. and do a custom headers.. i didnt do that yet, because i need to import some tubes.

I'm picking up the 5.0 (forged/8.8:1) from a Ford F150 next week. It comes complete with wire harness and ECU, but I'm prolly gonna plop a good carb on there, swap the dizzy, make the oil pan and rock on.

This, btw, is a low mileage reman engine, so it should last a while.

I still can't decide between a T5 or Tremec. The Tremec is better by far, but the T5 is less than $100 locally...all of 'em I can find are that price.

I figure, this setup, along with the NISMO 1.5way diff (which I think is a 4.08 gear?) should be a BLAST to drive!

I'll keep ya'll posted. Should be wrapped up in about a month or less.

BTW, I lost a rod bearing on the fully built KA. Piece o' ****.

Do you mind sharing a little info on your setup? I.e. What did you do for engine/trans. Mounts? Did you run into any problems with the driveshaft (probably custom)? What trans are you using? Who made the oil pan? I'm just trying to gather as much info. as possible b/c my dad is a ford guy and has an extra engine. I'm done getting there in a straight line and its time to start getting there sideways with a stock 5.0. Thanks

sorry at the moment...i only have a video in youtube to show my car with the engine sound of a v8.. my laptop now is virus and i cant get the little pictures of that. i can tell u that the driveshatf is a custom driveshaft.. it comes from a ford grand marquis and was welded with the end of the driveshaft that bolts with the diff... my transmission is a aod and was rebuild 1 a few months ago... i didnt cut any part of the chassis to done the swap... but i can tell u that is a "must to" because u need to place the engine near the firewall to make room for electric fans and other stuffs!!! i have my electric fans in front of the radiator.... not between radiator and engine!! ... and the oil pan? yea.. its custom made...any one can make one with the apropiate tools.. u need to cut and paste and make it with the some liters of oil to avoid problems. my engine has the oil pump in front !! the only problem i had was the front stabilizer bar.. it is custom to... and its a pain in the *** .

I just recently blew my 2nd KA up, and I'm tired of it. We build some stout SBC's for our IMCA Modified. Planning on swappin one in but I'm not sure what I can use for a transmission. I would like to keep it manual and not spend a ton of $, so does anyone know if the stock 240 5 speed will handle it and if not, any suggestions??

On a side note for anyone interested - Ford Racing makes a standalone efi harness for the 5.0's. It uses all of the readily available parts/sensors for the fox body mustangs, comes with installation instructions, labeled, and only costs like $209. They also have a basic sensor package ($90) that includes the main harness sensors. Part numbers fms-m-12071-c302 (harness), and fms-m-12071-c302 (sensors). Both can be purchased from summit racing - Reliable efi on your swapped 5.0 is very simple!

Good evening all, Newbie to the forum.I was running an rb20det in my 240 until the timing belt snapped and grenaded the engine. I have been without boost for nearly a year. I just purchased a megasquirt I v3.0 kit, 5.0 and t-5 transmission. probably do a single holset turbo and be back boosting in no time. Doing my part to aide global warming.

Welcome to NICO man. I am a huge RB20 fan myself. I have blown atleast 6 myself when I was living in Okinawa. Great little motor.

The 302 is a good choice for 400 reliable/cheap power. I look forward to seeing everyones project.
