I need a small pickup to do some hauling and I already have a vq35 laying around so a light bulb went off, does anyone know if this swap has been attempted or if it will physically fit in the engine bay? I wasn't even looking for a nissan truck but I came across this 720 for cheap and I do have a soft spot for datsun/nissan products.

Also 2wd 720?The 4x4 720 is very different underneath.

Let me say 2wd 720's have had SRs, RBs, V8's, So I'd assume yes it can be done.

Only thing is wiring up a VQ isn't exactly the easiest thing to do in the swap.

So VQ35 with a maxima ECU, should be manageable.

If you want the full functionality of the 350z in a 720, good luck with those sensors.

Out of a 04 350z, and the truck I'm looking at is a 2wd I think have to double check. No problem with the wiring I got people that will take care of that for me and I have access to a consult II, even if we had a run a maxima ecu still 250hp in a light a** truck will be fun

if you're good enough with wiring stuff... don't use a stock ECU to begin with... for example when i switch to fuel injection i'll be using 034EFI http://www.034motorsport.com/

With access to a Consult II. Only problem is gonna be fabing the mounts. From a unibody car to a frame truck. Should be interesting. Biggest thing is the throttle body. Those electric throttles are hell on VQ's. Be prepared to reprogram it, and relearn it ALOT.

First off you know about this place right?zeroforum?id=132

Secondly there was a guy in 240sxgen chat and also in that subforum named irax, i think. Who was trying to get a kit together to make a direct swap into a 240.

Just need to fab mounts and maybe a pan to get the motor where you want it.

Then wire it up to an older maxima ecu. swap out throttle bodies to a cable driven vq TB.

Then there are shifter kits around to get it mounted right.

One nissan master tech built but I'm not sure how close to 100% functional 240sx with a 350z driven train, wheel sensors and all.

You'll probably come across it in the VQ forum.

also I thought it had more than 250hp.

3.5 L (210 cu in) VQ35DE V6 287 bhp (214 kW) 274 ft·lbf (371 N·m)

yep.
