well, lets see...

we invade their land... make it our home and a nice road to drive on through their breeding/food/whatever else land and you have the nerve to call them retarted for just running around.

I feel sorry for the deer... based on your attitude towards this, I'd say, you deserved it!

I wonder how you would feel if you were wlaking down the street and someone going +70mph plows you down and then calls you a retard...

Why do you say I deserved to get my car freaking trashed by a deer? Because I called them retarted. Well if you car was trashed I think you would be a little upset also. They have plenty of land to run around here in OK, unlike CA. But for some reason they love to run right infront of cars, stop, stair at you, then turn around and try to run to where they came from. As you can see I am very upset right now because I am not sure what is going to happen to my 240.

Just venting my anger!!!!!!

That...really...sucks. I feel sorry for all three parties involved...you, the deer and the nissan. I hope everything works out for the best and are returned with your beloved car. I'm sure she was great pre-wreck. BTW, vent all you need.

Well if you feel so strongly for the deer, go grab a tent and turn your land into a deer reservation.

...frickin' retard...

Anand, i dont think you see many deer in california which is why i understand your post but if you experianced these things first hand, you would understand. in the northeast deer will literally look at the car coming from beside the road and wait till the last second to jump right infront of you. it happens all the time and to multiple friends of mine. its frustrating and nearly unavoidable (i say nearly because you could choose to not drive at all). anyway, if there are deer in cali and you do know about this problem then my bad.

Sorry to hear that brother, glad your alright....Here in NY I see alot of deer, especially around my house and I know what it's like to hit one. It's funny to me to hear someone feel sorry for the deer because we hunt them. The reason we hunt them is to keep thier population down, otherwise they'd overrun and interfere with the necessities (SP?) of our life. Whether anyone agrees with this or not is pretty much irrelevant, in fact I could care less. I just find it funny IF anyone values the life of an animal over human life (this statement is not directed at anyone in particular). Anyway I hope you get your s14 fixed real nice.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Looks like it was a pretty big deer. The insurance company will total the car. You can probably buy back the car for the salvage value, but you'd have to pay more than they give you to repair it properly.

I'm glad we don't have much of a deer problem here on Long Island. Do those deer whistles work? I heard that they may actually atract the deer.

If you ever catch a deer "in the headlights", blow your horn. It'll usually snap them out of their daze and they'll run away.

well lots of dears fling over cars and live. Just kind of weird that way. But i live in elk country and whimpy deer don't compair to these huge horned mofos.

What we simply do up here is flash our hazards. Different color and different movement in light. I am just guessing on why to use hazards. But its worked everytime

that really sucks. But I guess you are kinda lucky because it didn't go through your windshield. Deer often have a tendency to have their legs knocked out from under them, roll across the hood, and take the brunt of the impact on the first surface them come across (windshield,) especially on lower cars. Glad to hear your ok, hope everything works out for ya.

Glad to hear you're ok too, sucks for your car though. I agree that if your car is in good mechanical working, you should buy it back and sell it for parts or try and buy a shell to move things over. Luckily I've never hit a deer and I really hope I never do, I know my dad's car got hit by a few, he stopped in time for the deer in the road and another ran out and ran into the side of his car. That's retarded no matter how you look at it. Look at the people that do the same thing, that run head first into large objects, there's a 90% chance that person is or should be wearing a helmet with his name on it. It's a car moving at 70+mph with headlights on, how hard is it to avoid? It's like people getting hit by trains, you really have to be out of it to not see a train coming at you.

Deer are the most dangerous thing on the roads here in Wisconsin. They cause more accidents than drunks or weather. no joke!

Problem is that deer get mesmorized by the headlights. They are not used to seeing bright lights, so they fix their vision on the lights. Stupid oversize rats!

Here is Wisconsin, a lot of people deer hunt just to control the herd. There gets to be so many of them that they would die in the winter anyhow from lack of food. They are all over the roads. I have had so many close calls. Had one jump over my hood once! Never hit one yet... knock on wood.

ANAND... don't ever say he deserves to hit a deer. He could have been killed. I have seen pics of a Dodge Ram that hit a deer.. popped it up into the air, through the windsheild, and it decapitated the driver with it's rack and killed his two kids in the passenger seat.

I don't hate dear for any reason except the fact that they are a nuisance. They are like rats only not as dirty, and they don't try to get into your house (usually).

Anyhow.. good to see your OK. best of luck to you.

Man... glad you're okay.

I hit one going about 50, in a 60, one morning in the Z3. She jumped out of some tall grass and collided with the drivers side headlight. I had the top down and got to watch her, literally, flip over the car. I, apparently, am fortunate enough to have a Z with the airbags that don't work rather than the hyper sensitive ones.

My dad has hit at least 3 that I know of and he drives about 15 miles under the speed limit at night and dusk.

Conclusion: Yes, deer are definatly retarded when the headlights are in thier eyes. However they're really smart when it comes to avoiding predators... but, then again, that's mostly instinct.

If they do total it, which I am sure they proberly will. I will def. buy it back. I have alot of money in parts in that car. But hopefully I will find out this week, the wait is going to kill me. Anybody now about how much payback might be?

it won't be too much to buy it back...you will still get some money in your pocket after all is said and done..

from the looks of it... it doesn't seem to be *too* much of damage..

Just hope that your frame was not tweeked

you will need:

front bumperheadlightcorner lightdriver side fender.new steering wheel air bag if you want.replace the dash if you don't want a gaping hole in pass air bag area (which you will have a hard time finding..)

these parts you will be able to find... reletivelyt easy:HeadlightCorner lightfenderfront bumper

*not trying to unload on stuff that I have but I do however have the steering wheel with the airbag intact if you are interested.
