Your thread is full of laughs... :-)

You can make whatever power you want with whatever engine.
You just have to put $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ into it.

First of all why stick with the VG SOHC engine????
Second CT26's are crap, ebay T3/t4 is bigger crap, plus it'll only flow 500-550hp
Third what are you gonna do with 800hp??? Not Drifting and not Drag. Your gonna kill yourself.
An 800hp car is only useful in a True drag car or a Supra. I love the S12 but its NO supra.

Now to help you out.
Pick on RESONABLE power level, and one Main use for your car.
Lets say a Big Ballin 600hp in your S12.

Step 1 - Ditch the SOHC
Step 2 - RB or VG30DETT (if it will fit) or LS or Built KA-T
Step 3 - Don't do multiple level tuning. Thats a huge waste of $$. Go Straight to Nistune or a Standalone.
You can make good power on a Rom tune, Talk to CarlH @ Blackbox Tuning
Step 4 -The Turbo do some research, learn how to read a Compressor map and pick the smallest Turbo that will reach your power goal.
Step 5 - RCeng.com there is a injector calculator there, use it. Also keep in mind HP is made at the crank. 15% drivetrain loss 5spd
Step 6 - Take it to a professional Tuner
Step 7 - Try not to kill yourself with 600hp

P.s. Remember your supporting mods, Suspension & brakes etc....

Good Luck buddy.

yea totally read that wrong. i thought he was saying he had an RB in his s***

whats your name on club s12?

also i will upgrade to a ford 9" if my current diff breaks( which it will)
also going for the Fs5r30a trans and once my 71c breaks
but honestly since my car will be around 2800lbs i think the 71c might hang with low 10s high 9's but time will tell

check out z31performance.com and check out what people are doing..
700whp on ported stock head and stock bottom end.

for turbo selection... hks spl t51R ideally
but i dont want it to sound like a Subaru with un equal length headers. so if the ct's dont cut it... then i go to twin hx35 turbos. plus lag is a non issue since im doing nitrous and antilag 2 step

i know about injectors... i need about 1cc per min per chp for a 6 cylinder

and yes it will be fine tuned by tony at UMS

Tried the z31perfomance but you have to register.... Too much work. lol

But the thing is your motor is Old and got a lot of miles on it right??
So starting with a motor in better condition or a rebuilt fresh motor would be great.

It seems like your set on your VG sohc.
So just post up Dyno's and vids!!

If you were to put all the MONEY, TIME, PARTS and WORK into a better motor.
You would reach your goal, CHEAPER, EASIER and with LESS HEADACHE.

I know about being different and not wanting to follow the pack.
I've been working on a RB20 for YEARS.
It's the Red headed step child of the RB family.

"it will throw off the weight balance" - depending on what he wants to do with it, maybe. Proper suspension tuning can do miracles though, and my car is an RB25 swapped S12 coupe which I drift on a regular basis with NO complaints.

i6 vs v6(i did say do a rb didn't i. but it's youre car hey. it looks bad when you have a plan mapped out but using lame ebay turbos.
You know what else is comedic? When you get a little vacation for continuously crapping in everyone's thread. Keep it up :)

people said the ka would never make more then 500whp like 4 years ago..
now its all the rage...

just like how the vg30e will be all the rage in a year or 2 when people start breaking 1000whp
when a 3l engine can break 750whp on stock internals and 500whp is considered a reliable goal on the stock bottom end.. it will become popular when it hits magazines

It might be too late for the vg to be the next big motor, just because theyre so old. I may be wrong. Good luck brobi wan. All these ppl saying you cant do it will just be more inspiration to do it. I will be honest and i think it is a long shot. Prove us all wrong! :bigthumb: Subscribing! :mike

Good luck with the project.

I hate to think about all the little things it would take to make 600RWHP and get it to the ground reliably, but I'm glad to see you're trying. I guess after everything that's gonna break, breaks... and is replaced with something stronger, you should be good to go.

The 440's seem like they would come close to maxing out around 400HP. I'm curious to see what kinda numbers the 440's and CT's will make.

Also interested in your flow bench. It's cool that you actually went through with it despite the amount of crap people give you. Regardless of how accurate it is, at least you're trying and learning in the process :dblthumb:

BTW, what part of AZ are you in?

Keep us posted...

That would be because you're 18 and don't know didly quite yet. Sure, it's possible, it's just gonna have to be pricey and well-planned.

It's not like people haven't gone past 700HP with a VG before.
zeause wrote:It might be too late for the vg to be the next big motor, just because theyre so old.
Many VGs in this country are younger then your redtop SR20s. Just so you know.
supersayianjim wrote:As far as inline vs V configurations, and we can assume Nissan used a similar iron alloy in making the blocks, the VG is roughly 3/5 the length of the RB and slightly lighter.
As said earlier, jim, S12 200sx's came stock with the VG30E in them in 87-88.
The VG is much heavier then the RB. The SE S12 has been altered so the weight balance isn't that off, maybe a 54% front bias. This is what I meant by "putting in the hours".

not old and they made millions of them

they made the sohc vg platform in 1985 and its still in use in the 2010 nissian paladin(china xterra). its been turboed, twin turboed and supercharged

it can be made into a 4.1L with a vg33 block punch out and stroked
