I am all over southern California. I hit a lot of traffic. The coupe was my first new car buy, my family only owned auto trannys. I never had a chance to learn a stick and I was not about to spend 22k on something I didnt know how to drive despite I was 18 and was ready for road fun.

I did originally want a 350z or G35 but even used they were the same price as a new altima. I went for the fresh 2-3miles factory warranty.

The CVT was the more practical choice.

I am learning a lot and I am going to be saving up for a project car with a manual transmission that I can rip out all the interior and take to the track.

If a CVT is tuned properly, it should be faster than a MT. Even the fastest shifter can't keep the RPMs pinned at the optimum curve like a well tuned CVT. It's the same argument with the DSG. An identical DSG and MT lined up, the DSG always wins in 0-60 and in the 1/4 mile.

On the flip side, if all you're worried about is 0-60, you probably wouldn't be driving an altima. The real quesiton is preference, which is more fun for you, which is a better compromise, etc.
