finally, I've decided on this wheel, months of hunting for cheap meshies have failed me.

According to nismo freak in a may 05 post, the 17x8 +35 wil not clear coil over in the front so, I'm looking at the "5Zigen FN01RC SPL 17x9 4x114 +20" all around on s13. ----------------------exar kun mentioned running the same **** all aroundQuote »I'm a large fan of decreasing understeer by bringing the front traction in line with the rear, not reducing the rear traction.
nismo freak recommend to another user to run 235/45/17 in front and 255/40/17 in the rear.Quote »With a 235/45/17 front tire you are best with a 255/40/17 in the rear. Going bigger will increase understeer. A 255/40/17 on a 9" wheel is ideal.
------------------------What do you think woudl be the better course of action and why?

(Keep in mind that they must clear Z brakes, must clear coilovers.)

I'm in favor of the 245/40 all around simply because it allows you to rotate all four tires and
SR_Smith wrote:9" 225/45-17 has stretch. 245/40-17 is ideal for fitment (very slight angle on stretch) and ideal overall diameter, but isn't available in a ton of brands.255/40-17 is getting to be too tall. diameters range from 25" to 25.20" both of which are above oem OD.But on the 9" with 255/40-17 you get a square shoulder. The trick is, this doen't fit for **** under the back of an s13 unless you start to roll fender.

The only problem with a perfectly square tire/wheel is it becomes harder to tuck and harder to clear the coilover spring perch. Sometimes to get a solid fitment, you need that sightest bit of stretch, like the 215/45-17 on 8" or 225/40 on 8.5" etc
Do you have adjustable sways? Maybe there's another solution to fixing the understeer.

235/40 on 17x9 is awesome.

clears everything pretty well, just needs a fender roll and some hammering action on the fender tubs and seams.

17 x 8 +35 with a 215/45/17 clears coilovers, thats the fn01rc setup Smith used to have

anyway if you can find 245's id say that, or 235's if not

either way run same size all around

Even though 245/40-17 is a really excellent size, it's rare. You actually pay more just to have that size instead of wider or smaller..

245/40-17 would look ultra neat on a 9" but I contend that the 9" +20 sticks out too much unless you dump camber and roll the fender.

Then you have to steer clear of the 255/40-17.

Anything can bolt to the car, but what sacrifice and how much time do you want to spend to do it? Personal preference. I say just keep it simple. 215/45-17 on the 8" +35 with coilovers.

Increasing so much camber will reduce contact patch and wear tires faster than ever before!

Simplicity isn't a bad thing! Happy hunting!

Meh, you make it out alot worse than it is. Im running 3.5 Camber on a 17x9 +10 and the top of the wheel is ~7mm sunk.

The +20 should only need about 2.5-2.7 front camber to fit fine... in the rear less than 2.0 is gonna need a well done fender roll.

I lucked out and got 245/40... I guess... it looks like mega sidewall extreme. and it went flat last night and fell off the rim bead =/

recently I was at a wheels shop, a customer had these wheels on s14 with 245 and it fits perfect. He said minimal work to get them to fit. However the 255 is not goign to clear very easily, according to him too.

Oh if only my s13 fits easy like s14 too

Screw all you S14 Hoebags.

-You can scrape tension rod bracket on 17s and still be able to steer

-You can rock out on 18x9 18x10 +0 and not have to whale on your fenders for 4hrs.

S13 is where the kids who want a challege play.

I'll try and get some pics of 245/40 on a 9... S14 is completely different from S13 though, Id wager that you could run that without a roll in the rear if you were high enough.

I'm going to get the 17x9 +20 also. I dont mind rolling the fenders. I mean I might not need to but I might as well do it to get a little extra clearance. I dont want to run a streched tire, and I'm on stock suspension right now. But when my drifting skills go up I plan on some coil-overs (thinking something heights and ride adjustable like Tein FLEX's). So with this info what tire should I get?

If I'd run 245/40's I think I'd get some Yoko ES 100's. I'm happy with them on my vr-4 right now. So what would be the best for me?

So for us S14 guys we should get 245/40/17 all around correct? I checked and I can get G-Force sports in 245 for $120 and 255 for $125 so only a $5 buck difference.

Anyone have any pictures how the difference between 245 and 255 and how they sit on the cars?
