I've started using Lexol (sp?) recently. I used on my J :cry and QX4 and let me tell you why. When I was shopping for my J I saw this guys leather. It was soft and perfect, on a 10 year old car. He said that he had been using Lexol soley for years. I didn't buy his car, but I took his advice on Lexol. I just started using it and although it hasn't made the leather perfectly soft yet, it does clean it and make it shine!

AZ- By "wearing out" what do you mean.. Does it bead less or something??

Im not gonna spend the money if it wears out after 8 months, and it says 5 years...

Yes - It loses some of its resistance to dirt sticking....

Where'd you get 5 years? Hell, Wes - NOTHING lasts 5 years.

Hey all, I've been working for 5 Star since last July. I have had it on my car for over a year now and it still works just as great as when I first applied it. The 5 year number is based on someone applying 5 Star as soon as they purchase their vehicle. I know Ryan has had his car protected for a while now and hasn't seen any degradation.-Chad

Yeah, I've seen no problems and I've had mine on since Mid October. It lasted the harsh Indiana winter and is still going strong and looking good.

I posted a couple of pics of my wife's 4runner after 9months. I treated it last Sept (2003) and have only used water and a wash mitt to wash it..... It's still beads fabulously and looks/reflects awesome.

Hey, 5 Star makes buffing compounds that you can use for the crv prior to the application process... here's a link to check them out......

If you decide to pick them up put them on the same order as the kit you are picking up to be sure that they know you are a reference customer of mine.... Thanks!-Chad

Another update on the 5-Star on my G35 coupe.

So far, the 5-star has held up well. I have had it on the car for about 8 or 9 months now. It did well during the winter and now we're getting into summer and we'll really see how it lasts when the car is baking in the sun all day. Washing the car is still a breeze. Just power spray it and spot free rinse. I haven't seen any real deterioration in it at all. So far so good.

I gave some to my Father-In-Law for fathers day. He used it on his old Accord and his new Subaru.

Two observations:

1) Protecting the paint on a Subaru doesn't make a Subaru look any better. ;)

2) My father-in-law will now stop complete strangers to brag about this stuff.

Going to order for myself now....

How hard is it to actually apply? I had a recent back injury rendering me useless to do my regular Techwaxing job on teh 240

It is basically the same as applying a regular wax. Wax on, wax off.

Rydwhite is correct, The part that might be the most strenuous is preparing the paint since I recommend using a clay bar.

It sounds like you take care of your car's paint so you probably wouldn't need it.

Just remember that you only need a really thin coat of the 5 Star. You don't need to glob it on like some do with regular wax...

Let me know if you have any more ?'s-Chad

Oh....well I geuss I'll have to sucker somebody into cleaning up my paint and then putting it on. Can I polish the paint before applying it? Can I polish the paint after I apply it?

I can't even wax my car *injured* so maybe I'll pay a detail shop to clay bar it,polish it and then 5 star it :ylsuper .....gosh,that'd be a ****ton of money though

That is nothing at all like what I have experienced with mine or what I have heard others claim from using 5-star. I have had it on my car for about 9 or 10 months and it still looks great and washes easily. Bugs and road tar come off with very little work at all. Just the power spray and an occasional swipe with a wash mit and everything comes off, then a final spotless rinse.

yeah, the complete opposite of my experience also. i'm going on 10 months now and the shine is still incredible. i've used all the waxes and polishes out there, nothing can last this long. living in a town with a cement factory, dust everyday!!!!!, that is quite a testament to it's durability!!jeff

Assuming I prep my car and use your product, what do I have to do if I want to re-apply it after say a year? Do I need to apply something else to remove the 5 Star Shine sealant, so I can use a clay bar on it again before re-appying 5 Starr Shine again?

Thanks.

Like I said, I am assuming that your car has the luxury of a garage sometimes because you have a $30k+ car. My car does not AT ALL. The damage of rain and dust cannot be compared to 90+ degree daily weather in So Cal. Your reviews was one of the main reason why I tried out this product, but you're from a totally different climate.

my 90Q is NOT garaged, and has lived through 90+ degree temps, and 0 degree days, snow, salt, rain and cement dust which is one of the worst for paint!!!!

Youngturk,

It's no problem if you decide to re-apply after a year, just clay your car really well so it is completely smooth before the application. If you have any more ?'s email me or post on this forum.-Chad

Gee, several people try the product, but only one has difficulties with it. Must be a bad product, huh?

The rest of the post is so poorly wriiten I cannot tell if there is any rational thought process present in any of it.

One thing I can tell, he doesn't know Q45 paint form shinola. All paint jobs are not equal.

The other thing is he is trying to keep a black paint job at a concours winning level by storing his car outside? Just doesn't make any sense.

I wonder if he can read at a sufficient level of comprehension to understand the instructions? I am not betting on it.

blackaccord,

I am assuming that you do wash off dried bird doo and tree sap as soon as you see it, am I right? That stuff will eat through anything. I would not trust any type of wax product to thouroughly protect my paint from that. If you let it sit in the hot sun for a couple of days, I think it would make some sense that it will not come off easy. If you wash it as soon as you see it, there shouldn't be a problem, at least that is the result that I have seen. I always carry a bottle of detail spray or water and a microfiber cloth to clean that stuff off the car as soon as I see it. I don't want to take any chances. Most peopleI have met who are car enthusiasts and care about the appearance of their cars does something similar.

Secondly, did you properly prep the car's paint before applying? I am not sure if that could be a cause of the problems or not. I think washing and claybaring the car would make a huge difference in the way the 5-star product lasts. Again, I may be wrong about this. I haven't checked the site out in awhile to read it all and don't really remember all of their claims, but I am pretty sure that they recommended that the car be claybarred for optimal protection and coverage. The claybar would also enhance the smoothness of the paint since it gets rid of all contaminats. I don't think that their is anything as good for the paint in protection, appearance and feel as using a claybar.

And as someone else stated above, the early-mid 90's Q45's had the best paint ever applied to a car. I have seen dozens of 10-14 year old Q's with absolutely beautiful paint. Infiniti took special care in their early years to provide the best possible paint. Actually most old Q's paint looks as good and usually better than my 1 year old G35. It was and still is an amazing paint job. So, yeah NuQ's paint probably does still look new and perfect.

I am a bit confused by the term "glaze" you use. Do you mean the shine? Sorry for my ignorance on this. I used to use Zymol on my car and my car didn't shine nearly as well as it does now and I had to reapply Zymol twice a year and it wasn't near as easy to wash. I don't expect 5-star to last 4 or 5 years, but I do expect a good 2 years out of it. I save money in washing and in buying wax every year so I figure it is worth it. Plus it doesn't cost that much, somehting like $40 or $50 with the discount and you can use it to do 2 cars. And my car looks great still despite the little rock chips that I have.

If you're not happy with, by all means, I would suggest to Dawn the car and apply something that you are more confident and comfortable with. It's not like you lost a lot of money with it.

Your posts are more than sufficient to accomplish that. I assure you, with your language skills, you couldn't even comprehend, much less neither understand nor complete, an application to attend UC Berkley.

Take it somewhere else.
