Well I recently bought my 2011 M37s last Saturday and haven't been able to take her home yet :frown: . I noticed that both the 4 wheel active steer and traction control lights were on at the same time while test driving it. So as part of the deal I made to purchase the car those items were to be fixed. Fast forward to today and got a call from my sales guy saying they got the car back from Infiniti and everything was fine except the 4was came on again while bringing it back to the dealer. Now back it goes to Infiniti to fix. Have you guys dealt with the 4was light on along with the traction control light? If so what did it end out being? I keep reading that the 4 wheel active steer unit may need to be replaced and that looks to be a $2400 job that the dealer I am buying from is not going to be happy about. I may be getting cold feet on buying this particular M37s even though I got it out the door on a smoking deal. Should I be concerned here or am I just over analyzing this?

I forget which lights in particular but if I recall a particular combination of lights meant the brake fluid was low or something crazy like that. Perhaps someone will chime in with more exact information...as I don't have 4WAS on my car.

that's right I know on the M35 those lights on at the same time mean low brake fluid or pads, but you have active steering so I'm not sure. don't worry the dealer has to fix that not your issues

Those lights can be bad news. See HERE. Hopefully it's something simple.

Yikes! Thankfully written in the contract is for them to fix this issue. Pretty sure they had no idea what issue they had on hand since I bought from a Mitsubishi dealer. Strange that Infiniti didn't catch what was going on. I'll be damned if they "clear codes" and say everything is good. I'm going to make sure they give me all repair paperwork.

I was just about to post link to my thread, haha. Definitely have it looked at and it very well might be the cost that I paid, if it's more than just the 4was unit, which they should replace first (what my dealer did). That however only cleared some codes but not all, so resulted in replacing rear rack as well. $$$.

Hope you're getting extended warranty!

Still haven't gotten my car yet. Bought it almost 2 weeks ago and Infiniti keeps saying its fixed and once it gets back to the dealer I bought it from the lights are back on. I have explained to the service manager at the dealership I got it at what needs to be fixed and he swears he is telling Infiniti yet here we are. I am almost thinking that the dealer I bought the car from is playing games now because of how much the fix truly is. Thankfully I had them write into the contract that this be fixed before I take delivery. Starting to wonder if I can back out of this deal....

Hey lKoRTy...would you mind putting up your repair invoice or list of what exactly they did so I can send it to them and say "Do this!" I would really appreciate it! And yes I was getting the extended warranty to start with. After all this non sense its a must even if this car isn't the one I end up with. Hopefully your car is good now with no issues.

It's a packet of 20+ pages lol I will see what is relevant and will put it up.

Car was good until today, actually, where it wouldn't rev over 3500 rpm (safety mode). Seems to be either MAF, crankchaft or camshaft sensors. It sat in parking lot for 4 hours and when i came back was fine, so not sure what was the issue but will be checking connection of sensors.. Unfortunately from all the trouble I had, I am looking to switch to a qx70 now. That's my next car in line haha.
G35 -> q50 -> m56 -> qx70 ->qx80 :D

Holy crap... :tisk:

If you don't mind me asking but how long did it take for Infiniti to diagnose, fix and have the car back to you?

Sorry to hear your ride is acting up again. We have entered the age of too much tech for our own good in cars.

It took couple of days to do the 4WAS controller. Since it was throwing more codes, they did further testing, including calling engineers and voltage checks, etc. All in all took about 10 days to get everything done.
Here are some images of what they did, with what I assume are the codes they pulled:

They said this was extremely rare. Service adviser only saw one other case like this in his career. Time to buy a lottery ticket? lol

Well I have a 2012 M56S I purchased Nov. 28th 2018. The car for thre most part was great. A few minor issues like he wiper fluid wasn't coming out and the brakes squeaked and still squeak badly then but not so much now. I found out from Infiniti, when I took it in, that the place where I bought it from put the wrong pads on it. But Now all of my assistance lights like the 4was, iba, lane and road sensors lights are on after a 30 below winter day we had here in Illinois! And they never went off. They've come on before but I saw on YouTube that you just turn the car off and on and they would reset. Well that didn't work. I took it to Infiniti and found out that I need a rear power steering rack/ actuator. Which by the way cost $10000!!!!! Thank God I bought an extended warranty. This seems to be a common problem for these cars. There needs to be a recall on this. (Infiniti) ;)

Egor,

What problems are you having? The first thing you need to do is to read all of your trouble codes. I used a Bluetooth Code Reader that plugs into the ODBII Port and I run their App on my phone. I think Blue Driver is the brand and it is $100.00 on Amazon. Once you know the trouble codes, you can decide what repairs you want to try.

I solved my issue with a used replacement 12-volt motor. I suspect this motor is the weak link in the Rear Active Steering Actuator system.

I had the same issued and was quoted $7500 which was the entire rear steering rack to be replaced. Instead, I pulled the electric motor off of the rear steering actuator system (two 12mm bolts and a 2 wire harness plug). Took all of 8 minutes. On my bench I then pulled the round cover off of the motor by unscrewing the two phillips head screws and exposed in the inside of the motor. Found a TON of black grease had gotten in there and the brushes had been worn to where they weren't making contact any longer with the motor.

$8.50 later, purchased brushes on Amazon. Found some for a Hitachi power tool that had the correct height/width (6mmx7mm) and a length that was a bit too big but ground it down a bit. Had to solder the old wire to the new brushes because the new ones were not long enough but that was it. Put it all together and fixed a $7500 issue with $8.50 in new carbon brushes.

Bravo! Troubleshooting to the component level. A lost art. I just bought a used Motor off of Flea Bay although my problem was a Connector, not the Motor. But now I have a spare Motor and Sensor...

I agree, the motor was my issue. I like having all of my driver assist options working on my 2013 M37S.
