if you want to drift, i would not recommend the vlsd. it will work, but not very well and not for very long.

a good strictly drifting diff would be a 2 way clutch type like a Kaaz 2-way

Yes the stock rear end is holding the horsepower, although I don't get what you mean by it. 240's aren't crappy Honda's we don't need to change axles and all that wonderful crap to make our cars work.

I would never compare a nissan to a honda performance wise, just suprised that a rear end that was produced on a 155hp engine will hold 400+hp.

when this 240 is at the track is it ran on drag radials or slicks?

ive heard that its possable to use the vlsd from the infiniti j30 in your 240. are they the same?

240s came with the option of a vlsd which is the same as the J30 vlsd except the j30 one has a slightly lower gear ratio. im pretty sure that rick is using the phantom grip if im not mistaking tho

Well its funny that you guys bring up the rear diff issue because I just blew mine to shreds at the dragstrip on sunday. I didnt break it really, it more or less let go, I did my burnout to warmup the slicks good and soft and when i was staging I hear somewhat of a clunk but felt nothing, the car makes some funny noises so I dismissed it. It ran fun on the 4th and last run, ran an 11.9 at 116 and didnt do anything until I went to turn into the pit return lane, at which point the car came to a screeching dead halt. Now we can let the clutch out in 5th gear, the driveline turns but not the tires :( Oh well it just gives me a good excuse to go and get a Kaaz or a Cusco. All in all not a bad day, the track was very slick and I drifted to the 1/8th on my first run, ran a 12.5 on the second rung and realized I was on the pumpgas fuel map, switched to the racegas one and then I ran an 11.8 on a crappy 60ft time. The car wont come to the track again until May 1 when we will have the MSD in there, s13 distributor, and a new reared and looking for low 11's or high 10s if i can get it go in a straight line.

weird, the rear end should have broken on launch not on the return road. If you take the rear end apart keep note of any small peices in the gear lube besides the common stripped ring gear peices and look at areas where "C" clips are used maybe one popped or snapped and when you shifted or moved the throttle on the return road it was enough to move what ever the "C" clip was holding and lock up the differential. just stuff to think about.

whats your short timecrappy = 1.95+ ?good = 1.6 ?

Yeah my car is legal to 10.00 and so am I. I had a guy do the 6pt cage for me, he does it on the side but he does damn nice work. I think theres some pics of it on http://www.ka-t.org as well.

Who knows about the diff, its toasted and thats that, it has taken a lot of 10psi 5500rpm clutch dump launches and sub 1.860ft times, as well as drifting for the camera and some tire hop.

Im shooting to get a 1.6 60ft which will equal out to a high 10sec et-ish.

nice, thats the beautiful thing about torque. Wait until you feel a 1.55 1.6 short time, it feels like a 120lb kid is standing on your chest.

Thanks guys, see you all soon with some sweet numbers.
