ok my friend and i built a turbo kit from scratch because were the worst kind of budjet kids out there but after putting a stock diesle turbo on and makeing a turbo manifold with ext wastegate, and no intercooler yet. we made 400ft lbs and like 120 hp at rear wheels with a ka24-et all stock internals besides an eprom chip running 6 psi of boost. i know it sounds like bullsh!t but i can get the dyno sheet scaned and posted. im just so excited. I FLIPPING LOVE 240's. i just cant believe it hasnt blown up yet....or melted

dyno means nothing, I just don't think the 2 numbers are possible... maybe broken dyno?

take it to another dyno

400 ftlbs and 120 rwhp no way thats a huge difference...why stock hp levels and insane torque?

Something isn't right here.

I was just reading in another thread the other day about how most dynos use the torque number and a bunch of math to get the HP number...but this doesn't come close to how that write up said dyno's should work...

and send me that .bin and adr file tonight I'm not boosting yet but would like to look still.... congrats

i also call bs. how do you get less than stock hp #'s yet almost 5x the stock torque number. just because a diesel makes a ****load more torque than hp doesnt mean that putting a diesel turbo on your gasoline powered car will bring the same results. post up the dyno asap.

...................... WOW!! 400 feet to torque? dang! well sound like a whole lotta..... ..... but if you post the dyno sheet you might make a believer out of me! and even if you did get "400lb" it wont mean anything.. you only have 120HPs.... a shock 240 has 155hp, and 156-160 lbs on torque(Twin cam)and like 140 hp, 160 tq on the single cam...... all in all i thing you where better off, without it! all you are doing is running the risk of blowing the engine!!

I agree with all thee above. ...unless you are going to tow the other 240s to the track with that one. then it makes sence and a mildly retarded way.

You should have posted this in the KA-T section since it's a turbo.

A dyno makes Hp numbers out of RPM numbers and Toque numbers. And since its measuring at the wheels this can very depending on what gear its in. In first gear a stock 240 will have 350+ lbs of torque at the rear wheels but in 5th probably less than 100 lbs of torque. But in first gear it will have less RPM than in 5th. HP is a measurment of energy, or power. Electricity is measured in Watts. and its Volts times Amps. 10 volts at 1 Amp makes 10 Watts. so does 1 volt at 10 amps so does 20 volts at 0.5 amps.... same principle with HP. thats why when you gear somthing down to increase torque you sacrifice RPM. Maybe its producing 400lbs of torque in first gear. But i doubt the wheels will be spinning any faster than 2500rpm at redline. All these numbers are best estimates. Don't tell me im off a bit. thats not my point.

Well, first off, I would guess that an auto will not have a direct drive gear, such as fourth in our manuals. But more importantly if you start a pull in first, your TQ numbers are going to be higher.

true but when i dynoed i did a 3rd gear pull. one can simply put it in one take to red line. shift to 2nd then 3rd til redline

400ft-lbs and 120hp is completely wrong.

That means you would have 400lbs at less than 1575rpm.

You were probably in the wrong gear, or the guy working the dyno missed a decimal point when entering the numbers for gear ratio or tire diameter or something.

but yeah, what you said is absolutely impossible on a ka engine. sorry.
