I know most of you own both systems. Which version would you buy? Why?

360 since I have a 360. I used to think the PS controller was the be all end all, but once I got used to the 360's controller I love it. I think it will work very well for the type of game that GTA is. If I had both systems I would probably still pick up the 360 version if just for the DLC.

I'm definitely looking forward to it. Might not be able to enjoy it much until next weekend, but I'm glad it's almost here.

I'll be getting the 360 version since I only have a 360 and also in anticipation of the DLC.And also because pretty much everyone I want to play free roam with has a 360 and not a PS3.

I'd prefer a PS3 controller (or at least PS3/Saints Row style driving controls) but I'll make do with the 360 controller. I've played enough Forza and Crackdown to be used to the analog triggers for throttle and brake (which drove me NUTS with the previous Xbox/PS2 GTA games).

Also these threads ("4 days" and "which platform") are now merged.

I really don't like the glorified crime genre games but even i'm buying this because of the potentially limitless multiplayer.

Ive been playing san andreas for the past few weeks, though not in anticipation of the new game...I just bought a 360 controller for computer so I started playing it over.

However.....I went out and bought a PS3 last night So I will be buying it on that... assuming I can buy a copy release day, I doubt I will have too much troubles.

Man, I was watching some live streams of people playing the game earlier today, and I cannot wait to ****ing play it. The physics by themselves look to be worth the $60. Procedural animation is the future.

IGN rated it and gave it a 10/10, the first 10 that a console game on any system has received since Soul Calibur in 1999. That's quite an honor.

IGN has a habit of giving high ratings to a game and then lowering them later. I think they gave Halo 2 a 9.8 and it's now like a 9.2? Anyways I didn't know this one had multiplayer. I might pick it up now...

Yeah, the multiplayer sounds ****ing great honestly. Free roam with some friends could be a ton of fun...Racing with or without guns too (I'll probably be one of the only people who wants racing without guns though )

Changing a 9.8 to a 9.2 is a lot different than changing a 10 to anything. I doubt we will see that score change, especially since they made a big deal about it being the first 10 score in almost 10 years. Regardless its most likely going to be the game of the year, and that wouldnt change even if it was a 9.7 or something else.

EDIT: I checked IGN and Halo 2 is rated as 9.8.

I know it changed from whatever they originally rated it at to what it is currently. There was a big uproar over it back when I used to MLG. It might have been 10 to 9.8 or something. Anyways can 2 people ride in the same car? Ride shotgun literally?

Yeah. Thats actually where the term comes from. In the 1800's there used to be lots of robberies of the stage coaches that transported money between banks, so they would put a guy in the passenger seat with a shotgun to deter would-be thieves. That became known as "riding shotgun".

It looks awesome. I cant wait to jump in the back of a helicopter to rain down some lead on the streets. I think riding shotgun will be one of the more fun aspects of the online play, ya know, unless you have a rocket launcher.

F**k w/o. Imagine how effing fun it would be to drive while your copilot blasts on another team of 2 shooting out their tires and **** and massive wrecks and flips ensuing. It's like that old school game where you rode shotgun and effed people up. I think I'm going to buy this game now...

Be fun at times....

But I spent a lot of time in fast cars just hauling *** and throwing huge hand brake turns through the city.

TBH what sounds like it would be fun as hell to me would be to grab a partner and a fast car....then haul *** till you find a second nice car, pull up to it and take out the drive, pull over and let out passenger then Take off on a joyride with both cars.

I wonder if they will have bicycles?

I spent a lot of time biking around bunny hopping over all kinds of **** too. Would be fun on bikes to just kinda play follow the leader...and try and keep up with the other guy doing random stunts and racing around.

I gotta convince some of my friends back home to pick up a PS3 now :D

by that rationale, wouldnt you say that the driver of a motorcycle, not the passenger, is riding *****? lol

on another note, i think i'm going to die before tuesday. i checked out the ign review of GTA IV, in word and video form, and from the looks of it all its going to be mind blowingly amazing. haha, i foresee many hours of my life to going to this game over the next month, more than likely longer its gonna be teh sickness

- How do the SIXAXIS features on the PS3 controller work?

When in a helicopter you can control the pitch and roll of the craft. When on a bike you can use pitch and roll to pull of wheelies and stoppies as well as leaning. When on a boat you use it to steer and control the trim of the engines. When in a vehicle you can use the pitch and roll to control the orientation of the vehicle when in mid-air.When using weapons you can use it to quickly reload by pitching the controller up and down in quick succession

That sounds kinda cool :D

I've heard that its a pain in the *** in most circumstances, but you can turn it off so it doesnt really matter. They said the leaning part of the bikes was cool but you would constantly lean back or forward if you lean back or forward in your seat. It was fine on boats. The reloading thing is pretty useless. The reason you will turn it off is because of the helicopters. Be prepared to crash a lot.
