Hey All,

Well I finally got around to having my 4.08 installed this past week and the dealer told me that I got the wrong rearend. I bought this rearend from a 94 Q45t and I thought that all "t" models came with the traction control. Well I found out that not all do and this rearend will not work for my car...even if I disable the traction control.

So I screwed this one up. The rearend will fit any 94-96 Q45 without traction control. I had the dealer verify this and there is nothing wrong with the rearend.

Anyway...I have contacted another NICO member to see if he wants it and I am waiting for a response back. If for some reason they don't want it then I will take the next person who wants it and so forth.

The cost of the rearends from BRM are $850 with you paying the shipping to California with a 1 to 2 week turnaround time. This means your car is out of service for at least a week at total cost to you will be $850+shipping.

I can send you the rearend instantly and you don't have any downtime on your car and you can keep your original rearend as a spare. The rearends are not cheap from the salvage yard. They run from $250 to $450. I think that offering you to keep your original rearend and not have any downtime on your car is a big plus. Inturn, I would like $850+shipping which is the exact same price that you would pay to buy it through BRM and you get the 2 benefits...keeping your original as a spare and no downtime.

Please only those who can buy my rearend within the next 2 weeks respond as I want to get this mod and can't afford to do it without somebody first buying my rearend. I can be contact via email through NICO or via the posts here and will treat everybody in the order received and please remember that the NICO member that I contacted has first dibbs.

Thanks...Rob

I bought a traction control rearend today....the only salvage yard in all of Miami with a TCS unit. I could not believe how difficult it was to find a TCS unit so I could not pass up buying one as it would cost me more monies to be without a car for over a week than to be buy this unit.

The TCS rearends are a lot different. They have two sensors where the left & right shafts bolt up to the side of the unit. They also have a finely toothed gear on each side of the pumpkin to monitor the traction control. I will post pics if hotmail ever gets its act together and stops being busy as I sent the pics to my hotmail account but I can't access it becuase the server is too busy.

Post or e-mail me the pics, Rob. I'm about to pull mine out this weekend & just rebuild it if nothing else.

Rob, I just resent the contents of two previous emails. I do want your 4.08. I have provided the shipping address and only need to know whether you take PayPal or want a check. Let me know if you are not getting my emails. You can email me directly at [email protected].

Ahh dgoodno.....you are my hero. Thanks for helping a fellow NICO brother out of a jam. I will check the emails. Just sent me your address and I will send it out tomorrow along with the correct one that I bought today to be rebuilt into the ever so elusive 4.08 for me.

I have never done paypal before, but I do have an account. Which ever is better for you is good for me as payment is concerned. I will email you at the above email address.

Now I have got a sense of relief as the valet guys in my condo unit just bashed in my rear driver side corner right next to the tail lights....A real nice deep dent right on the corner.

I hate valet. You need to get that company in as much shat as possible with your condo board association. They need to feel the pressure. It's been my experience if you get high enough in the company and do enough threatening and have good solid evidence, they will cave.

I know...I dislike valet also, but the condo is so sweet....huge pool, gym, sauna, right on the intercoastal waterway with awesome views of the Miami Skyline, 3 miles North of the crazy & sexy SouthBeach, and the beach just one block away. The valet is the only thing that sucks.....and many other buildings have the same setup. You can be sure that I will do everything in my power to get this matter resolved.

Hey Duaine.. This is DKill.. LTNS.. good to hear you got back from Afghanistan with all your limbs attached :)

We'll have to get our racing Qs in the same vicinity one of these days... Only thing more odd then a Q on the track, is TWO Qs on the track!

Grape industry??.....ahh come on now...are you pulling our legs? I had no idea they made wine over there let alone drink wine. I would like to hear about your experiences over there sometime. Is it really like what we see on the news....nothing but sand & mountains??? I know not to trust the news too much after growing up in Florida. These news people will take a little Hurricane and make it like a big deal and about 10 different angle pics of the same building destroyed and then tell everybody....look...devistation everywhere.

Well I know that you are on borrowed time over there, but thanks again and hope you get back to the US quickly and safely.

The Thompson grape grown in CA is from Afghanistan as are most grown around the world. No wine though, just raisens and table grapes.

Lots of devistation, but reconstruction is going well, if not a little slow.

I stay away from the politics. My oldest son is a tank driver with 3rd ID. One of the first into Baghdad, and going back. He'd rather get out, but they're not allowing people out at the end of their contracts. Oh well.

Was I included in that? If so...

Duaine, Rob, WTF just happened there?

Now I'm convinced I'm the most misunderstood person on the planet.

My pic request was just to verify that architecturally, the unit would fit in my 91 base, non-tcs application, as there are more differences in these chunks than we think, as evidenced by my experience followed by Rob's.

Maybe I'm overreacting, or am I?

Hope all works well, I'm just going to do my own.

Heavy....you are too funny. I needed a good laugh after the valet guys tonight.

No you did not miss anything. I will take pics of both rearends tomorrow and post them. They will be small pics as all I have is a camera pic phone.

I had emailed Duaine personally about my rearend as BRM told me that he was just about to order one and so it only made sense for me to sell him my 4.08 that will not work.

I know that the 90-93 rearends are different from the 94-96 rearends. I spoke with Joe in Arizona and he told me that they were different. What I have now is a traction and nontraction control unit for the 94-96 years. I will post good pics of each one. The TCS unit is a lot different than the non TCS unit. I can't believe the difference as the TCS unit is so much more complex.

Here is a little pic of the TCS unit...notice the sensor and the fine toothed gear that senses the traction.

Duaine....

There are several of us considering the carbon fiber drive shaft maybe in May or June. We will email you at least 2 weeks in advance before we pull the trigger and buy this mod to see if we can get a group discount. I think cost of the driveshaft is around $1,100 so maybe we get 3 or 4 of us and then with a little luck we can get it down to $900 or less.....just thinking out loud.

I will be doing the big brakes in June or July. I will email you when I buy my brakes to see if you want to see about a group buy on those as well.

We have a couple other mods in the works that you may have heard about and will keep you in the loop as things progress.

Count me in for the ACPT CF Driveshaft..

I'm putting the big brakes/tires/wheels on hold....

I figure that will cost me

$3,600 for brakes$1,000+ for tires$1,000+ for wheels (probably closer to 2k for wheels)

At a minimum it would require nearly 5k to do the brakes, because of the tire/wheel upgrade neccasary. That's 5k I would rather put into actual performance gains..

My priorities currently lie with realized performance gains..

Driveshaft/headers is what I'm targeting now.

If you want we could smash the other side for you. I have an old Valet cap from a guy who tried to hit on my girlfriend at the time and got chased by two of my buddies. He never did come back for his hat!!!

Thanks for keeping track for me -- I want it ALL. I did email the brake guy, but he wants to talk to me concerning the AP fronts. I asked Tony to call him but have not heard from Tony since I saw him in MD.

Get this 3 days in CA, and 3 days at home in MD and I trott off to talk to my mechanic. My wife was livid!
