thank you for pointing that out again.

considering it was a STRAIGHT where both vehicles were exiting at the same time. Driver skill isn't a variable in that situation, since all we were doing was stepping on a gas pedal and pointing the car straight.

the video he's referring to involved an entire road course.

yup. they do. I haven't liked them as much since the 300ZX debuted, but they're still cool.

I'm all about teh old skool!

the C5 will handle a little better, but the chassis is very similar, brakes can be upgraded.

now turn the C5 into a hard to find collector like the ZR-1 with a sweet sounding and smoother running DOHC Mercury Marine motor:D

so exit speed has nothing to do with how you took the turn -> drivers' skill?

Although i see your point and it's a valid one at that. This wasn't directly after the apex of the turn... it was about 300' down. And since i was carrying maybe 5mph more thru the turn (he was on r compounds, i was on falken azenis)... he should have been EASILY able to stop me from pulling (250hp vs. 160hp).

i digress. the other poster was showing a video that he passed off as factual information. I posted my personal experience of how I perceived the RX8's performance being less than stellar...both with driving one and running against one.

I drove an automatic rx8. It was nothing short of pathetic. It was 100% slow in the straight and in the twisties I wasn't very impressed, although I had just got done driving a Speed Miata which has unbelievable handling. I love that car and if I had $25K I would buy it tomorrow. It feels so balenced and nimble. Too bad I don't fit in it with the top up (6'1"). I would still buy one though. :D

Anyway, I'm sure the manual rx8 is better, and as much as I love and support Mazda for being different, there are other cars I would buy.

Same driver, same track buddy...

Also, I posted about the video before you even started posting in this thread, so how could I try to disprove your claim that didn't even exsist yet

As for the automatic RX-8:

Horsepower (Manual) 238 @ 8500 RPMHorsepower (Automatic) 197 @ 7200 RPM

A manual would probably provide a better experience.

I agree with you 100% on the mazdaspeed miata, that thing kicks ***!

Lol, but even if I had a giraffe neck, would that make me taller then 6'1" if I'm 6'1"?

No, I sat in it with the top up, the top of my head touches the top and the top windshield support is pretty much right in my line of view, a little higher actually. Nothing that wouldn't stop me from buying one!

Gimme a speed Miata and a boost controller and I would be happy. I wouldn't even need to mod it. Well, maybe a few VE mods, but that's it.
