the vq35 is not high revving by high revving standards.

The vq35 from the altima, quest, or maxima are fwd so im sure theres problems there.

The vq35 shouldnt weight more than the ka, given the fact that is all aluminum and if done right. Ive seen c5 engines (v8 corvette) weight less than a turbo rotary by compromising...

sorry for the lack of apostrophes, im in a Mexican keyboard...

Weird, Cops have books that tell them what your car is supposed to have. That is just rediculous, if it passes imissions, why on earth would they care what you have?? I hope that it doesn't come down to that in all of the states. That would just be boring, I have a major problem with the law telling me what I can and can't do to my car. I have somewhat of an authority problem anyway...lol.

By 2007 all states are supposed to be using the same rules/laws that CARB has made here in California.. (I don't remember what magazine it was in.. but i'm pretty sure its 2007)

My aunt is a CHP Sergeant.. and you can call the CARB anytime and ask them a question fuktard. If you read what I said above and follow them, it should be legal -- but double check them with CARB first.

Gotta run, i'll make you look more like an idiot in a little bit.

Theya re always trying to revoke this law. I've been receiving the SEMA Action Network newsletters for a few years now. This comes up a couple of times a year. It's just one of those things they try to pass as a quick hit to try and show that they are trying to reduce smog. While it almost sounds like a good idea, the actual impact will be small as these cars are few in number and many of those that do exist are hardly driven and many of those are well maintained.

I have a 327 small block pushing 300+ hp and had a dream about putting it in my '93 240sx, And it was such a nice dream too! Then I woke up. I hope to have that dream again soon, maybe it will turn into reality. LMAO!!

saw a mag a while back...dont' remember if it was the G35 Skyline (hahahahahaha) or the 350 but it was right after it came out. dropped a rb26 in there quick like. VERY little room. small channel for an engine to fit. was a nice clean install.. said it was better than the stock motor but the 26 was built IIRC.

would be cool to see something different...that's about it for me.

THis is a thread about a VQ35DE in a 240sx, not the carb rules and regulations in California, or the rest of the country.Start a new thread if thats all you can post about and dont have anything to say about the engine swap (silviapower).-By the way, engine swaps in CA can be legal if you jump through all of the hoops and get it approved by a CARB smog referee. It is not easy, but it is possible, and there are lots of rules you have to follow.

The engine in the 350Z is not the same as the maxima, altima. Those are a FWD platform and there are differences with the engines, even though they are all VQ35's. THe FWD engines have been tuned for gas mileage and easy driveability, the 350Z has been tuned more for performance. But like I said, swap it in and use a standalone. BUt since the guy who originally posted this probably wasnt serious and isnt reading this anymore, I guess it doesnt matter what we post.

SR20's can make over 300 HP all day long....and they are easier to swap than an ancient boat anchor 327....

i am reading this and i appreciate the info on the 350z swap but the carb rules are also very enlightening.since we have a mixture of both im going to retitle this thread.

also where do we get info for making a swap legal???
