I am shopping for a g coupe or possibly a 350z.....are the 350's faster than the g's? Everyone I drive seem like it would roll out the G. What is the weight difference between the 2? Are there any mechaical differences? Do all 350's have LSD?

I'm not an expert on everything Z (or G for that matter) but in my opinion, The seats in the Z are designed for a guy with no feeling in his butt. I would hate driving/riding more than an hour in one. On the other hand, the seats in the G are comfortable enough for all day cruising. And, IMO, the G coupe is one of the best looking cars out there.

The HP of the Z and the G has varied over the last 5 years depending on transmission and model year.

The 08 350z with 306 hp should be as fast or slightly faster then a 07 Sedan.

Here is video of my 07 sedan killing a 06 350z. Both cars are stock except for tires and intake. The 350z had a neon light kit hp addition was negliable LOL.

I beat the 350z by 6-7 tenths of a second in the quarter mile that is a pretty huge kill.

The 2 are generally comparable... most of the time it's going to be a drivers race. The cars are built from the same platform. If you want to be more specific... which years and models... stats are easy to find.

When I was deciding what to buy at first. I drove the G the first time for 15mins and the Z for 2mins.... you can see what I walked away with.

If you are young and looking for a fun ride daily go for the 350. If you are looking for more go for the G. The 07+ 350 is faster then the G35 coupe (don't know about the g37) with the same driver and same circumstance. G have back seat and lot more luxurious then the 350z. The speed is not everything. You always going to find another faster car.

G coupe is well worth to have if you tried both you know what I am talking about.

I wouldn't mind 1 350z for a weekend car. It is fun to drive it.

I still don't know what I want for my next car but seriously considering to keep the G for a DD and get a 350z(or equaly fun sport car) for weekend fun.

The 350z is missing back seats...Not a good quality to have IMO. 2+2 is why I went with the G35 (I was looking at a Z06 vette). So it would depend on how you feel about the seats and the styling differences. It will be a close race...

Like the G, the Z has stacked on the kgs through its life, the later model years are heavier than the 03/04's, but the latest have the 222kw HR VQ instead of the 210kw DE.

They are essentially the same car. I was pretty much sold on a 350 until I discovered the 2+2 arragement on the GT.

goto carsdirect and compare the 350 to the g. It will show you HP, gears, weights, rear end type.

I have been trying to sell myself on a G coupe for years. The only real complaint I have is the seats. Lately, I've been looking at Z's. Their seats are more comfortable for me.....probably just me (I'm 6' 210 pounds)

I looked at a Z first. I'm 6'5'' tall. The Z was a non starter. I bought the G. A G coupe without sunroof gives me a perfect driving position.

I do a lot long distance touring. The G is a great touring car. I can sit in it all day long, it has ample power, good handling and ride. Plus as a 4 seater there is plenty of luggage room with the rear seats folded down.

But if you want a really fast car, can you say GT-R ?

6'5"! damn

I'm 6'3" and the G is just about perfect fit for me too. I love how far back the front seats can go. I traded in a full size 4 door truck so I'm used to having leg room. The G did not disappoint!

I don't know about any other years but on the 07 if you bought a BASE instead of a Journey you did not have rear AC vents, a sunroof or disk changer.

Now whether or not anyone actually bought a BASE? who knows!

For racing a base would be sweet! But then why have an Infiniti if you are not going to have a Sunroof (unless your 6'5")?

In 2004, the G35 coupe's heaviest version weighed in at 3,435 lbs. The heaviest 350Z in 2004 was 3,247 lbs. The G had 280 Hp and the Z had 287 HP.

In 2006, the G35 Coupe's heaviest model weighed in at 3,524 lbs with 298 HP. The heaviest Z was 3,404 lbs with 300 HP.

The curb weights for 07 didn't change, but the Z received the new HR version of the VQ rated at 306 HP while the G Coupe still included the 298 HP VQ (Actually rated at 293 with the new SAE HP standards).

For each respective year, the Z consistently has a better power-to-weight ratio. Of course, I am not including any of the roadster models of the Z as they are heavier than their coupe counterparts. So to answer your question, the Z should be faster than a G.

The G35 Coupes were offered with the sunroof as an option.

http://www.nissannews.com/infi...g.pdf

The premium package included the sunroof along with a few other amenities, but there was also a separate sunroof option.

It can also be verified here:

I think the obvious answer to your question is:

350z is faster.

It's lighter and in some cases has more HP.

Yes, my G35 doesn't have a sunroof. The only options are the performance wheel/tire package, splash guards and trunk mat. There is a picture on the second page of the G35 Members Rides thread.

All the other options required the sunroof, either directly or indirectly as an item included as part of a required package.

Yes, being tall, I have to suffer in this 'basic" car. Dang, I even have to use a key to start the thing, flip the day/night lever on the rear view mirror by hand and remember to turn the headlights on and off.

Sitting in my heated leather power seats, listing to the music on the 6 CD changer, playing with the steering wheel mounted cruise control and radio buttons.

Oh, wait a minute. Never mind. Even a BASE Infinite is a pretty sweet ride.

So the 300 hp 2006 350Z that I stomped twice with different drivers each time in my 2007 G35 would be because of 6 additional hp?

Watch that video I posted and tell me the Z should be faster then the G.

I can't speak for year except that I know mine is an '03 Coupe and was completely stock.

I can say though that I've read the thread and seen the numbers posted and it leaves me pondering things. I've raced a 350Z Coupe before on the freeway late at night when there was plenty of open freeway and no other cars to speak of except my friend in his Integra it was just perfect play zone for a good couple miles. This was back in 06 so it was before 07 model year so the 350 I'm guessing was between 03-06. To keep it short and sweet from about 60-70mph the 350Z dispite the numbers I've seen posted can't pass and actually you'll pull about a car and a half on it pretty quickly then it will seem like it's a formation race and it'll just sit there not appearing to fall back, then somewhere around 120mph it's now 3 car lengths, at 140mph it's now probably 4-4.5 car lengths back..after that who knows we kinda both backed off at that point then he got off at the next exit. So from what I've experienced they aren't any faster and perhaps at least on high end a tad slower. I was always told they were the same exact engines when talking coupe vs. coupe. I've seen conflicting reports in this thread though so IDK...

Ok, so what about a G37 vs a 07/08 350z?

The G has a good extra 30 hp, but its alot heavier.

Well the Stock Sedan 07+ will beat the 08+ coupe

so if the coupe beats the Z then the sedan is the fastest and every one should have one!

You needed the 350 Roadster.... That way you could grow to be 7ft tall and be in the NBA

The old rule that losing 100 lbs of sprung weight was the equivalent of gaining 10 HP. Unsprung weight reduction produced even more of an advantage. That rule probably applies. So the Z should have an advantage equal to 15-20 HP. Other things are involved at different speeds. I've heard that the 2007/8 G35's actually make 309 HP at 60+ mph due to the design of the intake system.

I'd also need to live somewhere where it doesn't rain or snow. I did sit in the Z Roadster, and there isn't much headroom with the top up!

I guess you need to live in the desert.... Like Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona LOL And get a 350 roadster so that you can have the top down all year and keep that tall body of yours in the car.

Just watch out for low clearance interstate overpasses.......... Wouldn't want to be decapitated LMAO

I had to do it im

5'10 so bring on the short jokes

But no harm intended
